Old game are pretty well known for inane amounts of censorship. How about a thread for censorship discussion and examples?

Not my pic fyi so don't moan to me. Harvest Moon 1 is really thinly censored. Eve works at a bar and sells 'juice'. Characters get drunk on this 'juice'.

On Mega Man Legends for PS1, there's a side quest where you need to get an "Action Man" comic book, but in reality it's an erotic magazine on the original japanese release.
The PS1 version of the game got the magazine changed to look like a regular superhero comic book, but for some reason the original lewd catgirl comic is still on the western port of Megaman 64, even though it says "action man comic".
Not sure about the PC version.

I just got the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64 yesterday. One of the handful of differences between the US and JPN versions is the advertisement parodies. I'm sure the changes made to the US version were more of a case of "copyright censorship" rather than toning down content deemed inappropriate for children, but pic related would likely have been taken out regardless.

This is off-topic, but the other differences I noticed off-hand are Toad being called by his Japanese name Kinopio, and many of the voice-overs are very, very different. Just in case anyone wanted to know.

I was actually thinking of getting the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64 pretty much for that reason alone. They do that in the later games, but the advertisement changes in the US version of MK64 are basically just the characters names, with little to no effort put into it.

I'm glad that they did that because the jap version had better controls and they fixed a few bugs and other weirdness. So it's the best version of the game. Also somehow the japanese scrolling text just adds to the cyberpunk feel of the game to me somehow.
