Why do people hate Alundra 2 so much? Is it just because it's so different from the first game? It's a pretty good game in its own right.

I don't know if I'd say "pretty good" but it's not terrible, maybe a 5 or even 6/10.

Yes.

>mediocre gameplay
>nonexistant puzzles
>no relation to first game
>3d instead of 2D

It's ok. I liked the clockwork bots.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Liked the combat with the combos, solid levels, great characters that kept the plot lighter than the first game, fun minigames too.

>> No.2315651

i loved the first game to death. the odd mix of a more serious approach to a zelda-game (threatening atmosphere, people dying under your arms although you try as hard as you can to help them) really got to me. i had really hoped for a continuation of this, so i was thoroughly disappointed with what we got.

You played a game called Alundra 2 and didn't assume there was a first Alundra?

I was like 6 or 7 at the time so it never crossed my mind.

Ha, like 2 was just a normal part of the title that meant nothing.

"Alundra 2, I'm going to play Alundra 2 the only game I know of with Alundra in the name. There could be no other. Alundra with an arbitrary 2. This is good, I'm playing it."

That's what you thought in your 6 year old head

Probably.

Now my mind is open to vast possibilities of having games with numbers in them that don't pertain to an order within a series. Maybe they could slap on a number just because of whatever that number's symbolism suggests and how it pertains to the story. It could have been Alundra 2 because the character Alundra was a part of a series of clones and he was the second. I know that is not the story, but I guess there are games like that. Golgo 13. Come to think of it I don't know what the 13 stands for, but I'm pretty sure there aren't 12 other Golgo games.

>> No.2315682

>>2315678
The name "Golgo 13" is a reference to the death of Jesus Christ. Golgo is short for Golgotha, the place of Jesus' crucifixion. The number 13 is considered an unlucky number because there were thirteen participants at Jesus' Last Supper before his execution. Also, Golgo 13's logo is a skeleton wearing a Crown of Thorns.

I mean, Final Fantasy started with 7 and Fallout started with 3. So it's really not that weird of an assumption.

They just put a 7 onto the title of Final Fantasy 7 because it's a lucky number in casinos and they were hoping for a big payday.

I'm assuming the 3 in Fallout 3 is in reference to World War III.

I like it. It's funny and the gameplay actually reflects that you're a spindly kid with a huge sword.

Alundra Z

>> No.2318513

What got me was the long tedious boss fights. They had way too much health and you could attack them maybe for 5 seconds during a 30-second pattern. Rinse, repeat for 10 minutes. It got old fast, and what made me end up dropping the game.

It had a charming script though.

Super Mario 42 is the best of the series, don't let anyone ever you tell you otherwise.

It's kind of mediocre and there are many fucking RPGs on the platform to choose from. And Alundra was way, way better
