lewd.

that games was the first time as a kid I was wowed at graphics. Until then I think I had only seen colecovision or atari games, and I was still too young to go to the real arcade centers (that was when I was 6 and played SFII for the first time, but that's another story). At some fast food place there were some arcades (DK, pac-man) but then I saw pacmania and it blew me away.

10/10 pacman game.

The entire PC-Genjin/Bonk franchise. Some of the finest platformers ever made, yet few have played.

And it also has great shmup spinoffs (mainly PC Denjin/Air Zonk, the sequel wasn't as good, but still fun)

I played Ducktales 2 years before I played the first game and, even though I enjoyed playing it, I was a little disappointed in it. I guess I just prefer the second one and think it's a pity that people always only talk about the first one.

Redneck Rampage Rides Again In Arkansas

The sequel to the first Redneck Rampage. Very overlooked because everyone stopped at the first game, which was very hit&miss and glitchy; though the sequel is great and fixes most of the flaws of the original game while adding tons of cool stuff; but nobody's played it. most people don't even know the sequel exists or think it's an addon.

and yeah I agree with OP. Duck Tales 2 is fantastic, imo it's better than 1 in every single aspect. Yes, even regarding music.

isn't that image bullshit though? aren't those just different powerups that are in both versions of the game?

I knew there was a sequel but like you said I ignored it because of how bad the first game was.

I might have to check it out next time I'm in a build engine mood.

How does the soundtrack compare? The first game's soundtrack was the only good thing about it.

Millipede. It's so much better than it's predecessor, yet it continues to get left in the dust.

I must be the only motherfucker who only played Duck Tales 2 but not the first one as a kid. I believe I rented it like twice.

A few years ago, I revisited DT2, and beat it 100%, but every time I try the first one, it never holds my interest.

>> No.2141684

Duck Tales 2 got overlooked because hardly anyone got to play it. It was released very late into the NES's lifespan, so it had a very limited print run. I'm lucky I even got to play it at all back in the day.

Imagine if, say, Mega Man 2 had been released in 1993 and only 100,000 copies of it had been made, and the series stopped there. We very well might be talking about how great the original is, while a few diehards sing the praises of the far superior sequel.

I actually the own that cartridge and it was my first time playing it when I bought it. So for the price, it was a gamble. I loved it, though.

CnD2 is actually much worse than CnD1.
Technically speaking, the graphics are more detailed; and you also have more moves (you can throw boxes diagonally etc). However, I think it's bad because the level design sucks, there is no rythm to it, like the boss fights drag on forever. Plus, in coop the game lags a LOT (to the point of being unplayable), and we all know CnD is to be played in coop, alone it's not the same thing.

>>2140978
The OST's good but it's probably the only thing that's not as good as the first game. There are some great songs, but also a few repetitive ones which sound similar so I always come back to the same 3-4 songs which gets repetitive fast.

Even today you'd be lucky to find an NA copy for under a hundred fifty bucks. Famicom versions seem quite a bit cheaper at least. At least we can emulate.

I'd say the majority of gamers 30yo or older have at least played Bonk or Bonk's Revenge, hell every ToysRUs in the country had a TG-16 demo display.

Duck Tales 2 was far, far better than the first game in all regards (even the music; though the Moon Theme wasn't really anything spectacular, just a "look at me I'm so retro" meme) and deserves way more recognition. I hope someday they'll make a HD remake like they did with the first game, but I'm not going to hold my breath because DT2 has no hipster cred.

Just been playing this recently. The controls feel a little stiff in the first game, but it's still enjoyable. The second game seems more polished. Too bad they only had two games released.

36 here
I never saw a tg16, once. And I'm from a very populated part of America and from a time when every kid in the neighborhood showed off their game systems (which in that era were SNES and Genesis for everyone.)

I could have just had a coincidentally Turbografx-free existence, but I knew only of the system from magazines and the rare commercial.

Holy shit, are you me?

I fully concur with this anon. And I would also add to this that I lived all over the country as a kid. My family moved every couple of years due to the jobs my parents held, and I lived on both coasts, as well as down south and the north-east. I saw plenty of TG-16 commercials, but I will be damned if I ever saw one anywhere (including stores) or ever met another kid who had one.
