I'm actually playing through Resident Evil 2 on the N64.

I'm planning on going through a nice chunk of the series...again. Also considering buying Code Veronica in spite of what I've heard. It's one of the only classic RE games I haven't beaten.

I'm playing Super Castelvania IV and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on my Dreamcast and enjoying both immensely. Anyone who hasn't played Soul Reaver should get on that immediately. I also booted up Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Dino Crisis on my Dreamcast earlier, but I don't think I'll have time for all four so I'm focusing on Soul Reaver and Castelvania.

I was just testing out the disc to make sure it worked but it wasn't very intuitive. It might make more sense if I watched the cutscenes.

I had that problem when I first tried it forever ago, but starting again this time I had no trouble figuring it out. I don't if I can offer much advice, it's pretty simple to get through the tutorial, and the rest of the game is pretty linear and straight forward. Although, I don't know if there are differences between the Dreamcast and Playstation versions.

the DC seems to have superior graphics and is more fluid, but my emulator crashed 24/7 so I played the PS1 version instead.

Whatever you do, hands off the PC version, that one has a couple bugs.

Well, gotta try fighting him again. Playing on a shitty snes emulator on the DS might not have helped it either (or maybe i just suck), but now that i have a USB snes controller, playing on emulators might feel better.

Doubt that i would be able to fight the dark demon without abusing save states or using passwords.

And i tried to go on the ice level once using passwords, and got my ass kicked.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. I just managed to beat Death (protip: save up like 50 hearts and don't get hit at all after you get the wallmeat before the secret path, then spam the cross item crash until he's dead) but now Shaft is kicking my ass. This is the furthest I've ever been in any Castlevania.

Also, if he's emulating on the DS, there's a high chance that game is unstable as hell, explaining the save states.

Yeah, the nds emulator is crap. I tried to play super punch out on it, and the health bars always got all messed up after the fight began, and the opponent was always slightly transparent (like the player sprite).

Still don't know how i managed to reach mr. sandman on that emulator.

Demon's crest ran fairly well on the emulator, but it freezes whenever i tried to use the save states.
Not that i'll be able to use my DS anymore, since the A button is pretty much busted thanks to one full playthrough and one speedrun of solatorobo.

Well PE is basically like an 80's cop movie with a sci-fi plot point, and PE2 is kinda the same, but the game is a little harder on the sci-fi and a lot less of a cop movie.

Right on, OP. I started into Demon's Crest for the first time in many years the other night. It was the first game I ever emulated, back in probably '02 or '03.

I've been playing Splatterhouse lately. Possessed girlfriend keeps kicking my ass. I just beat Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet the other night. It had a great uneasy atmosphere, but fuck, were some of the puzzles counterintuitive and inconsistent.
