Come play Final Fantasy Remnants with /vr/, an online version of FF4 where everyone controls one character.

Chatbox is /vr/bros, password is "rage", for old time's sake.

Also, ask for an invite to the /vr/ clan. Recruiters should always be online, and leaders (as of now) are Erroneous, Ryta, Kid Shin, and Dewystine if you want a title change.

Try not to make this public outside of /vr/, as I doubt the server could handle more than even 500 people and I don't want to piss off the admin too much

I tried to get into this, but I never could enjoy any BYOND lag-fest, like SS13. It's like playing FF4 on a 33Mhz 486 that just so happens to have multiplayer. Neat concept, but god-awful execution.

Would be nifty if someone made an MMORPG like this though.

You used to get it from beating a much more manageable version of Zeromus back in the day with unlimited icon uploads (Back then it was a vaccine verb which fit in with the game's plot much better than Gilgamesh blatantly breaking the 4th wall for an icon upload).

Szen said people used to spam the vaccine verb a bunch which fucked with the server and majorly slowed it down which "ruined it for everyone" according to him.

I'd call it a case of bad management. Punishing the entire community rather than the offenders themselves.

It looks like Gilgamesh got broken somehow in the last couple days, his damage was too high. I formed a party with Kyo, Reuben, Dave and RCX and Szen watched us. Szen even hopped in at one point and took 9999 damage from both Excalibur and Masamune while he had the best armor in the game on. It'll probably be fixed tomorrow or the next day.

I can't believe how fast my motivation drops upon reaching Zeromus/Gilgamesh range. It's like there's no point to even trying to continue from here. It'd actually be fun if it felt like I stood a chance of winning, but I don't. Not without min-maxed perfect 5-man teamwork with only the best characters.

That's how Zeromus was originally balanced, but he was too easy. That being said, that party can still kill him but it does require coordination and pattern memorization

Paladin casts Mighty Guard after Black Hole, before Big Bang. White Mage casts Haste at the same time.
Dragoon may have been fortunate enough to avoid it by knowing the pattern.
Ninja should be wearing Alchemy Ring with Mega Potion ready.
Mature Caller should be nuking.

Gilgamesh is not FF4 content and I don't think he needs to be balanced the same way. Really, nothing can be, since most classes are very different from how they were in FF4 anyway.

Why you all gotta be a bunch of sissies?
Fighting and winning against Zero is not the nigh-impossible task you're all making it out to be.Yes, Zero is very hard. If you spent more than one attempt trying to win, you might actually win because you learned something from your failure, which is intended in...any game ever made. Learn why you died, come up with a solution.

Talk to your allies and try to formulate a battle plan. Getting through Lunar Core is not terribly hard with a competent party that knows what to do and how to effectively deal with enemy encounters. If you have an unbalanced party, you are going to have a rough time.

I do agree though, Zero is entirely too difficult. Solo-playthroughs used to be possible; this is no longer the case. It should be, though, as a party is not always guaranteed.

I think what caused it was when I tried to scan him to check HP, thus why we knew the health he had left when it happened. Might be a bug that happened, although I don't think it'll get fixed til someone tells HK the obvious.

I've encountered the party-wide battle freeze bug before too but libra wasn't active on any of the enemies, so I don't think scan is causing it.

It's just one of those things that's hard to reproduce to figure it out. Like the fat chocobo or inn-after-fights bug causing you to be able to roam around empty battlefields.

Alright chodes listen up. I see people bitching about Elgo or whatever the fucks names is, about how his battle is rng bullshit, but here's my diagnosis. You all just need to git gud. I've only fought him once and wiped that one time, but I can already see a guaranteed battle plan.
In our attempt, we had the alchemist cast blink and I immediately followed up with shell. This is wrong, and I now only know this in hindsight. What we should've done is have the alchemist use their megapot spell or whatever it is that heals for 6k, but not actually use it immediately. I would still shell. The second Elgo goes into any animation for any attack, they would use the megapot. They would do this for every turn they had, never doing anything else. That's it. I'd follow up with protect, then haste. The fight should in theory be smooth sailing from there. You could of course not have an alchemist and have a white mage or anyone else just use Curaja or any other top tier healing ability. I think an alchemists pot though would be best with how fast it comes out.

Just be mindful of the boundaries of the frame when you're cropping/resizing said portrait to fit the proper pixel aspect ratio/boundary for the icon's portrait state.

Is there some trick to this stat allocation thing? I'm hearing this is something you NEED to do before you really get started, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to work. I click on the Extra menu after creating a character, and click on the Stat Allocation button. I get a window, choose the stat I want to allocate to, and then what? I've done calculate stat afterwards, and my stats are still the same.

How do I start this game without crippling myself beforehand?

So soloing is pretty much impossible unless you want to grind for hours on end apparently. First boss wasn't too bad with some grinding, but the second boss does 100-200, and I only have 300 HP. The only method I have of attacking would be to spend all my gold on hi-potions, and then alternating between hi-potion and attacking, and hoping he doesn't go into a 2xattack loop. Or I can grind 200-500EXP of groups until I have the 15,000 EXP I need for levels.

I was expecting it to get harder to solo as it goes along, but the game kinda forces you into a group pretty quickly.

Your bardsongs don't get good until a lot later in the game, but your party will appreciate the fuck out of you when that time comes.

Medicine is an amazing ability. It uses one potion, whichever potion is at the top of your inventory (excluding mega-potion) and uses it on the whole party. To switch to other potions, you can deposit your suckier potions into a fat chocobo and pull them back out. They come back into the bottom of the list. Healing 5k HP to the party is nothing to take for granted.

Hide is... a situational ability. For certain endgame bosses you can predict when party-killing moves are coming. It MAY be worth it to avoid them sometimes. It is mostly useless though.

Bards can stay useful through out the game as a healer. Just migrate from Potion to Hi-Potion to Mega-Potion to X-Potion. Healing 100 HP to the party is handy almost exclusively for Mist Dragon, but 500 HP stays good for a while. It'll feel bad using mega-pots since any class can do it, but you should have some good songs by then. Healing 5k makes you feel like a vital member of the party.

I've not seen this many changes to the game that were fairly solid, even the bugs that do occur are usually fixed in a day or two depending on when he's notified. Social graces or not, HK has got some ability all on his own. Apparantly the bank code has been a glitch for ages and HK had one finally good lead and fixed it in no time.

Why would Szen be on this list and not Rin or Omega Warrior? There isn't a Cecil81076 (lol) and Omega Shinryuu Zeromus Elgo and Archimus aren't players... but if they were... man would they wreck your shit faster.

If you asked me none of the staff is really a problem, it's just the self-entitled players that think they own the game or have something owed to them for playing it. I've had this bug happen a few times myself, along with the maps just freezing, with inputs still working. I don't believe these are problems with FFR but with BYOND, as I've had similar problems with other games as well. That being said, if a GM is on, whisper them and just let them know what happened. Have your party vouch for you being in that spot with them, and have the GM move you back, and they will usually oblige. If, for some reason, there isn't a GM on, then it's my fault for not having someone on during that timeslot, though there should almost always be a GM available to help.

in boss fights, use last resort. the fight SHOULD be over before you die. except for zeromus, elgo, omega, shinyruu and archimus anyway.

DK are strong and have good survivability. Last Resort is underrated, use it. You can equip all the best armors, and have access to powerful weapons too. Your skill set is fairly small, but you don't need one when you can one shot a fucking Red Dragon at the moon's core.

The main thing is that you are fast and strong, so as long as you have a good supply of pots and emergency items on hand, you'll be a good addition to any party.

DK is a simple class. ATTACK. ATTACK. ATTACK. And if your party gets fucked, do your best to res them. It's all you can do, since the whole class was designed around slinging out damage.(they're not very balanced as compared to the rest of the lineup though, so take them at your own risk.)

It's not, actually. There's hardly any DKs, because this particular damage class can be replaced easily by pallys, samurai, and other stuff that don't require you to sacrifice health for damage.

Still, Last Resort + darkness/ebonyslash/final thrust is legit.

Another thing i'll repeat: don't rely on others for your heatlh, stick to pots and pretty much just letting yourself get slapped around for max effect damage with last resort + final thrust or ebony slash. Ebony in a magic move, final thrust is physical, so keep that in mind since lots of the end game bosses counter with horrible shit if you magic attack them.
This being said, do any early birds wanna party up'n do somethin? New classes would be cool, was thinking balls out party, no heals, just damage dealers. Right now am sitting alone in the game with nothing to do. ;_;
