whats the best machine version to play this on? looks like the Amiga but correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't know which version is best, or even if there are any major differences. I've only tried the c64 version. Make sure to play with the manual so you can read the room descriptions for added atmosphere.

That board has no interest in 80s RPGs except for Wizardry and only then because of much later console ports and because it inspired JRPGs.

There's a world of difference between the various ports of old PC games and it pays to do a little research to avoid wasting time on a shit version of a classic. I'm not just talking about sound and graphics, but different gameplay mechanics, bugs, etc.
