Agreed. The real merit of FFX is how fantastic and extensive its side content is compared to previous entries. The main story is overblown, excessively constrained, and far inferior to FFVII's, but it more than makes up for this in how much interesting shit there is to discover in its post game

FF12 barely feels like a Final Fantasy. I really liked the gambit system that'll allow you to play as a single-character mode or turn off all gambits to micro-manage everyone, which makes it more challenging.

Really? Did you even play the games before it? Especially FF8 and 9 where you could double the hours spent playing it on sidequests? And they were a hell of a lot more enjoyable than Chocobo trainer and lightning dodger.
