There was this coffe shop girl I got really obsessed with. She was Italian and quirky and weird, I thought she was perfect. I was a weirdo though and it took two years of persistence before finally after a drunken night I finally bedded her. Honestly can't say because it's dependant on my mood.
Not to mention I wasn't the same person I was 10, 15 years ago. People think that you have a progression of personality but like anything perhaps it's possible to degenerate.

I'll list 3 games from a few decades.
>80s - Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Tetris, Super Mario Bros
>90s - Goldeneye 007, Super Mario 64, Pokemon Gold
>00's Max Payne 2, Final Fantasy X-2, Knights of the Old Republic.
>2010's - Call of Duty Black Ops, Red Dead Redemption, Batman Arkham City.
>2020's - Final Fantasy Origin: Stranger of Paradise, Ghost of Tsushima, Stray.

I think it depends on what you mean by 'best'.
In terms of objectivity- a game that I think would be closest to a hypothetical '10/10' in terms of polish, abundance of content, refined game-play, etc., I think there are some obvious common picks within different genres like Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario World, Resident Evil 4, and so on and so forth.
Personally I think I'd say Shadow Hearts II (Director's Cut).

However if you mean which game is my subjective 'best', the game I enjoyed the most and have the greatest fondness for regardless of objective quality-

seriously, it was perfectly balanced while having room for some damn epic game-breaking items. The world/design was so charming there were lots of girls playing it. Playing as a guild aiming to win WoE was the most exciting and rewarding of all if you played with friends or other cool players.

I do coomlect and play all sorts of things (my newest most revered game is Tiny Toons 2 for NES), but still, RO was something unique if you happened to be there. Hope the magic's still there after all these years for zoomies to enjoy it
