This is the best GTA because the developers actually focused on fun gameplay instead of making a detailed and realistic world. San Andreas has a lot of content but most of it just isn’t fun

Both this and SA are great, I really enjoy how you get a goal and hinted how to do it but it's always better to think outside the box. Game hints frontal assault, nah, snipe. etc. Also I'm an 80s sucker so this game is pure kino.

I just wish it had swimming. Any mission related to the boats sucked and I still don't understand why they didn't implement swimming that early compared to including bikes.

>I just wish it had swimming.
Honestly it makes sense to me that they neglected this. Yeah, it's kind of weird that stepping foot off the Miami beach instakills you, but VC was about the Hollywood aesthetic of Scarface and Miami Vice, which was much more about driving cool fast cars and shooting guns on land. Tedious swimming mechanics are often just not fun and I understand not wanting to prioritize them. I mean, does anyone remember with particular fondness having to grind swimming up and down in San Andreas for that one mission?

fuck it lets take the meme >first who can swim is a black. yeah SA didn't make much use of it. 5 it became a thing and diving was a plot mission. Even if it didn't matter, with how much water going fucking Mario NES touch water die in fucking Miami was a bit rough esp with touchy controls at times.

No it really doesn't. The only actual reasoning behind them neglecting it is because they didn't have enough time to figure out how to implement how swimming would function since the game came out in just a year after GTA3.
>does anyone remember with particular fondness having to grind swimming up and down in San Andreas for that one mission?

Yes I don't know why I mentioned VC when I should just say SA where the story is like 50% of the game. VC isn't that different to Scarface. Scarface was cool that you could order people around to bring you cars and stuff anywhere but it's kind of lame that you have to do the drug runs yourself and can't delegate them. My 2 cents is this. Vice City has a little bit more charm but that's because it was actually rushed out to capitalize on III's success due to it's media coverage. In fact I think there's one building in Downtown VC where you can tell obviously the developers were in a hurry to get it out. I think it was something like the building's windows were obviously too small. Once you got close you could tell the proportions of the windows and doors wouldn't allow a person to enter the building. This isn;t the only building like that in the game. In fact parts of VC where there isn't a major section of the game that takes place that yo ucan tell was rushed by the developers. Even still VC was a huge leap forward because of the "business" management aspect of the game. If you really look at those old PS2 era GTA games you really see very guickly that what you're getting isn't one game. You get several smaller games in a GTA game of that era. You get a flight simulator, a driving sim, a fighting game, a business management sim and a third person shooter all in one game. They even added a fucking DDR type game in SA. I think this is a huge reason the newer games lack the charm and fun of the old games. GTA 5 really doesn't have anything new in it. Almost everything yo ucan do in 5 you can do in the other games. To that end I think 4 is probably the last actually fun GTA game because they added darts and a dating sim thing as well as other minigames and stuff. Bowling too even. I think if they do a GTA 6 they should really look at adding new gameplay elements that would fit into what ever thier motif is. Supposedly it's supposed to be VC again which is kind of meh for me. Overall I think SA is the better game in terms of graphics and game play for the simple fact that alot of the same game ideas from VC are still there but they're more polished.

I'd say GTA San Andreas is the less realistic and more fun one. There's a lot of variety in the missions in SA and a lot of wacky characters, buying an airfield and doing crazy shit for a hippie and the CIA, etc. Most of vice city's missions are the standard "drive from A to B, kill 20 dudes, drive home while getting chased" or "chase someone in a vehicle, run them off the road, lose your wanted level" missions.

The two games are nearly equal in my opinion, because Vice City has my favourite city, atmosphere and soundtrack, but San Andreas just barely beats it because the gameplay is just more fun and varied.

It was pretty large by 2004 standards, especially compared to Vice City and Liberty City. It also just felt larger in scope, driving from Los Santos to San Fierro actually felt like something of a road trip and the areas felt clearly distinct. What annoys me about the GTA games is that money, your reward for doing missions, really lacks any real uses. Most properties are useless and boring. Vice City is the only one that does it halfway decent, because money is generally kind of tight in the game, so getting some revenue rolling in feels rewarding, and the businesses you buy are at least halfway interesting. In San Andreas, money is only good for buying guns and armor. The properties suck and only serve as save points on a needlessly large map. Oh and once you get access to horse betting you can make millions upon millions relatively quick, voiding the importance of money for the next 70% of the game.

It's not like a deal breaker for the games, but it could've been more rewarding,

>> No.10183474
