Just a heads up for Soul Calibur III: it has a bug where if you save a game in the same memory card AFTER making a SCIII save where you started Chronicles of the Sword, the SCIII save will end up corrupted. You can remedy this by making a memory card just for SCIII.

This bug was in the original game too, it's not emulator-specific.

A few pointers for those games:
- The Bouncer (Bouncer... Bouncer) uses the analog-sensitive buttons extensively. I'm pretty sure those aren't emulated, so you may end up with gimped combos.
- Metal Saga takes quite a while to get going, you'll spend at least one hour just setting your game up and in tutorials.
- Play Shadow of Rome on Normal or Easy, don't play on Hard on your first playthough. The reason is because weapons break really easily on Hard, which will make some of the later fights almost impossible.
- Don't try to "perfect game" Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter on your first playthrough. You're supposed to get game over. They're actually integrated into gameplay.
- Bumpy Trot/Steambot Chronicles is a really open game, which suffers from a lot of slowdown. It's ok if you're a little lost on what to do to progress - the game doesn't hold your hand.
- Tales of Rebirth has no translation. If you still want to play it, a good tip is to never concentrate all your good equips and stats on a single character. It may sound like I'm joking here, but you'll have to fight every character from your party at least once each (even the protagonist). Not everyone at once, of course.

I think the most fun I had with DQ was (nearly) 1CC'ing it my first run, with an extremely early-game death that I figured was going to be a cutscene/forced boss failure being my only restart. I missed a shit ton of stuff that would have made the game a lot easier and still made it through the whole thing with like 92% counter.

>didn't even realize you could switch between any weapon/shield/armor you had equipped mid-battle at no cost or penalty until over halfway through the game
My saving grace was realizing what the devs were up to pretty early on and only taking SOME of their bait. I still got fucked by those elemental lizards in the hallways that you're meant to D-dash past, among other things. Also I realized the importance of bait/trap tactics early on and used them constantly through the run.
DQ is extremely punishing of poor play, yet it's a lot of fun to try and beat those odds as they ramp up to seemingly unfair levels.
