so far I've played Suikoden 1 and 2, and Final Fantasy 4, 5 and x-2, and Chrono Trigger.

Super Mario RPG and Final Fantasy VII are obvious answers. A little less obvious but very much a 10/10 is Vandal Hearts.

Both Lunar games. PS1 for Lunar 1 and Sega CD for Lunar 2 is your best bet.

Final Fantasy 1. It may be lower tech and less story-heavy than the later entries but it is a pure high grade enjoyable fantasy role playing adventure experience. I've replayed 1 more than any of the others and I still enjoy it thoroughly.

You don't need to play remakes or fixes, the original NES version is fine. There are many quirks in the original game but they won't detract from your experience. After all, the game became a smash hit success that spawned an empire regardless.

Always liked Breath of Fire 2. I think it's an only slightly flawed masterpiece. The story is very cozy and bittersweet even with the original translation (which I prefer, but yeah I won't be terribly surprised, just this once, if people would rather have a retranslation patch).

How does Skies of Arcadia for Dreamcast compare with the goats?

>for Dreamcast
I bought a Dreamcast JUST for that game, that's how hype it was.
Never got more than a chapter or two into it. The loading times are UTTERLY HORRENDOUS. Literally the worst I've ever dealt with in a game. Maybe better under emulation, but... ugh. You get in your airship and move 2 pixels, suddenly random encounter, HUGE loading sequence, combat zone appears, each enemy loads in ONE AT A TIME with the machine overheating with each one even though they're identical enemies... you activate your special attacks, which are the obnoxious 30-second cutscenes that were the style at the time, even for the simplest abilities, and they can't be skipped. Enemies finally defeated, another long disc-crunching load back to the overworld, move 2 pixels, encounter again.. Simply unplayable.

Thank god I discovered JSR, Shenmue, Project Justice, and all the other Dreamcast classics soon after. Shenmue had loading times too but at least they meant something.

Fallout 1+2. Fallout 1 doesn't take too long to beat and it's a great condensed experience. Fallout 2s biggest strength on the other hand, is all the side content.

Personally i loved it. I played the Gamecube version in 2019 for the first time and it became one of my favourites. It has a lower encounter rate than the DC version
