Both. Original first, then the remake to fully appreciate it. Then go back to the original and chuckle at how quickly you breeze through the game.

Both games have their strengths. I prefer the original. It's got a quicker pace compared to Remake where they add like two or three steps to every puzzle. Plus the OG's voice acting incredible.

Play the remake. Has everything in the original and then some, plus it has better graphics, more fun and interesting mechanics, and is generally more difficult.

Also, it doesn't have the same atrocious voice acting and soundtrack from the original. If you enjoy bad music and bad voice acting, maybe play the original.

> here is the original game
Of the original game, there are 8 different versions OP could potentially buy (5x PSX, 1xSaturn, 1xPC, 1xDS).
Of those, 5 are on PlayStation (Longbox, Jewel, DC 2 Disc, DC Vanilla, DC DualShock)
The music you posted of the original game only exists in the fifth release of the game. Currently, it is the third best option to get, but that is if OP doesn't have a functioning PC and doesn't also have a PS4 or PS5, as the last release of DC DualShock was on the PlayStation 3 and only in North America.
Thanks for exposing yourself as a secondary who has never played the original and thus should have no opinion on it.
By the way, the remake's soundtrack is either lifted from the original game or dogshit ambience that nobody would ever remember, like the song you just posted. Additionally, DC DualShock has the better save theme.

That "dogshit ambiance" is better than every single original track they made for Resident Evil, up-to and including Resident Evil 8. Capcom have dogshit composers.

Yeah, it honestly looks great either way. I really don't recommend using the widescreen option in the HD remaster though. It looks weird, almost like watching a pan & scan VHS or something. The widescreen mode basically just zooms in on the 4:3 gameplay and pans around the static screens as you move.
>>9838810
You can restart if you really feel like you're up a creek without a paddle. You have my permission.
You can probably catch back up to where you were in a fraction of the time it took you to get there and without spending as much ammo or first aid.

I just started playing RE1 and Silent Hill for the first time. These games fucking suck dick. Not liking the "survival horror" aspect at all.

How was I supposed to know to pick Jill first? Chris is the first one selected by default so I started with him. Every zombie is just going to kill me unless I magdump them. Fighting against the controls to not die and get kicked to the main menu is unfun. Game fucking sucks.

False. I'm definitely older than you since I've owned a PS1, alongside the Sega Saturn & N64 as a teenager. I've enjoyed RE1 & SH1 during their primes, when it was new & innovative. These games are not bad. As for shit taste? You wouldn't know a shitty game if it slapped you in the face. The reality is without the success of RE1, there would be no RE4. Without the success of SH1, there would be no sequels. These games were fun to people as old as me. You would never understand because you did not live through the 80's & 90's.

The English version removes the Easy and Hard labels.
>Every zombie is just going to kill me unless I magdump them
Chris actually has an absurd amount of HP plus an F. Air Spray. To knife only a zombie it's not that hard, just back up, slash, back up, slash, etc. 2-4 slashes knocks em down if you want to just run around them.
Protip for ammo as well, Kenneth's body has 30 bullets on him. Examine him, then do it two more times. The last two times will get you 30 handgun bullets. Every dead (STARS) body has at least 15 bullets on it if I recall.
>Fighting against the controls to not die

Bait aside, how come they removed the 'easy' and 'hard' labels from Chris and Jill? They were in the original Japanese version and it feels like a weird move to take them out. I for sure picked Chris as a kid only to get my shit pushed in (and generally had a miserable time until I replayed it as Jill a while later), if I'd have seen he was 'hard' I totally wouldn't have picked him.
