Community POM is a PS1 exclusive and one of the best games of this style. Music is fantastic (it's by the Katamari guy) and the gameplay tight as hell. Beautiful 32-bit 2D as well. Hope you like Earth Wind & Fire

Loved the DS story but hated the combat. Only managed the massive sky climb platforming bit late in the final parallel only a couple of times. Like Equinox, I find the use of perspective to conceal the route a frustrating way to increase the difficulty

Final Fantasy Adventure is the most underrated Zelda clone ever made. You get different weapons that also helps you clear difficult terrain, but at the same time you get spells too. Exploration is worse than your average Zelda, dungeons are closer to Zelda 1, but story and combat are on the other hand better. Sadly future mana games weren’t as fun as 1.

Light crusader definitely nailed Diablo 1's story before Diablo 1 was a thing. Reminded me of a far less gory Immortal with far better gameplay.
