You don't know what you're talking about.
You heard something once about CRTs and now think you know anything about them.

Not all CRT displays blend dithering patterns to create that transparency effect.
The image I posted of Kirby you can see the shader that's supposed to mimic an RGB screen still does a much better job of blending the water (which with raw pixels is just alternating blue and blank vertical lines), while the composite or ntsc shader does completely blend the dithering pattern, but the overall image is blurry and arguably unpleasant to look at.

Another thing is there isn't a big difference between s-video and RGB. Given that if you are thinking of using s-video shader might as well go with RGB. Its gonna look similar and s-video doesn't have any advantage like transparency over RGB.

Well, I'm glad you asked, Anon! Makes a change from the usual shitposting. I'm using a combination of dropbox-x and reshade because I am (deliberately) using integrated graphics to be as portable as possible which means dropping the desktop resolution to 1024x768 so the framerate doesn't tank. There's a neat .fx shader built in called dotnbloom (Direct3D) which gives the CRT look and if you fiddle with the settings you can get a little halation but it's not that pronounced. Only Dos game that it didn't look right so far on was Crusader, strangely. Alone in the Dark looked better with lottes but its native res is, like, 240p so no surprises there.

As for the bloom I'm using Neobloom because it seems to be the only one that doesn't blow the FUCK out of the white ceiling lights (look at the red key room and the map room; they're still a bit overbright but, trust me, it was obnoxious with Magicbloom and Arcanebloom).

I was about to dick around with lottes as an alternative if you want me to upload the results? Means it's purely reshade and, presumably dump the .ini file somewhere.

CRT-Guest-Advanced-NTSC. It's taken from guest's thread on the libretro forums. Apparently it's made to match a picture of a real NES hooked up to a PVM through composite, which explains the thick scanlines. The colors probably come down to the palette used. You can probably get an even more accurate shot to what the game looked like to most of us using a lower TVL mask and messing with the scanline parameters to make them less prominent.

Anyone using CRT Royale?
I have an issue with white text especially where it looks like the RGB colors are like, too big for the text and they bleed out from the sides? Also happens with very thin, like one pixel wide graphics.

How do I get rid of that fucking 1 line of red that bleeds out from the left side?
The one and only thing that makes sense to fix it is simply moving the R (in RGB) vertical beam convergence offset whatever the fuck but it goes too far and starts bleeding out from the right side when I move it. It just won't go into the center.

Crt shaders exist in order to mimic the look the games are supposed to have. Only turboautists fell for the meme and bought alternate cables back in the day

That looks really good. Would be even better with some weak scanlines to complete the effect by masking some of the harshness of the phosphors

I used to hang around and answer questions when they popped up as long as it wasn't obviously someone who couldn't read the wiki. Others would do the same, there was OC floating around, and sometimes we'd even get emudevs showing up that weren't Danny.
There was always the occasional schizo throwing a fit about trannies or some other shit, but one day the dam broke and that's all the thread's been ever since.

It's just genuinely not worth visiting for anything but the wiki, which I'm pretty sure got co-opted by some subreddit's Discord server anyway.
The actual thread has nothing of value anymore.
