>> No.9429950 [DELETED]

I do. But only because I have a whole drawer full of link cables I've picked up over the years. It's gay as fuck.

I feel this pain. I've been chasing that dream ever since. My freinds always lose interest in the current gen before we get to the point of battling or trading to any satisfying extent.

How many anons actually used the link cable in gen1/2? Considering the extreme popularity of the games, it seems like it was very rare in the USA. Im sure it was even lonelier in europe and aus.

I remember using it occasionally. Until the battery died, I had a Yellow save file with 'mons I had gotten traded in grammar school. I occasionally did gen 1/2 link battles in high school, too (and did a bunch of battling in the HG/SS days)

I don't understand why nintendo only ever included link cables with the original gameboy, and then sold them seperately with the later remodels. Maybe they thought they could gouge but I really doubt as many kids got to buy GB pocket/GBC link cables as they probably wanted to.

The only thing worse was those stupid fucking wireless GBA adapters that you had to buy two of that fucking nobody owned and didn't even work with most games and the games that did work with them had wireless adapter exclusive content.

It was so people would get friends to buy a Gameboy so they could play together. It did come bundled with Tetris, after all. I remember as a kid seeing my dad and sister play Tetris against each other even though neither one was into video games.

I'm 100% sure the original GB came bundled with Tetris AND the link cable so no ripping people off and charging for an extra cable to use the feature the device you just bought comes with.

nowadays such rip off tactics are standard but that shit wouldn't fly in the 80s.
heck what GB even had that feature??? before Pokémon it was just Tetris and you tried it out a few times with friends because you were curious and that was your only link cable experience until like 10 years later or something you needed it for Pokémon and you had no idea where you put it because you never needed it in all those years so of course you suddenly had to buy a new one.

Also super pissed off Pokémon didn't use the game boy colour what's it called wireless link TV remote like thing? like why the fuck couldn't this protocol work exactly like the link cable and just send the same data??? what's the technical difference and I'm sure this could have been made possible when designing the GBC.

Recommended link cable games to me.

>Im sure it was even lonelier in europe

no? why should it be lonely in Europe???
USA is a cluster fuck where everyone lives far away and you can't just meet friends if your mother won't drive you, everything is too spaced out and you have to live in the neighborhood. public transport isn't even a REAL thing in the USA unlike in Europe.

Also kids in Europe gather outside, it's very extreme in South Europe like Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, France (France depends on the region, Spain and Italy take the cake) where people pretty much live outside on the streets. No they aren't homeless but everyone meets everyone outside and chills with the neighbors and friends plus it is hot so people stay up late outside. This isn't so much a thing in countries like Germany, Sweden, Netherlands...they all live indoors.

so if you meet others outside it's great to have a portable device and play Pokémon with them.
also like I said you can just walk to your friends and then you can play Pokémon. there are public playgrounds every few meters in a good walking distance and you can meet there also with non friends but school folks you know to battle or trade. obviously we battled and traded on the school yard during breaks and maybe TVs in kids rooms are more common in the USA (???) so Euro kids are more likely to have a game boy because it's also cheaper (haha Europoors and so on) also because public transport is a thing kids would play together on the bus/metro.

I might be wrong but I don't think Australia is not build like Europe and too spaced out and no outside culture so Australia might be like the USA but I wouldn't know

this low IQ argument is getting old. some games are for children, some are for adults. just like some movies are for children and some are for adults. deep down you know that playing shit like pokemon is gay as fuck so you create this autistic cover story of "all games are for kids" to make yourself feel better about being the fat bisexual retard you are.

playing quake or playing a hand of poker is not the same thing as playing barbie horse adventures or make believe with action figures no matter how badly you want to pretend it is. if all games are "toys" then there are socially acceptable "toys" and unacceptable "toys". adult men playing pokemon is unacceptable and everyone in your life would think you were a gigantic faggot if they saw you doing it in public (and they'd be right)

the original gameboy had a different port than the gameboy pocket. Once the pocket came along it forced you to buy a new cable.
