Gamecube games can be very dark, I've noticed it too. Xbox and PS2 are more balanced but the mediocre component quality out of Xbox leaves much to be desired. PS2 is usually well off. Playing on a CRT does help.

I did end up hooking the system up to a CRT, and adjusting the brightness settings on that television did actually improve it and make the game function properly.

That's the devs not the gamecube, this is the ps2 version for example.
It's outside but dark, change the gamma if you are on an lcd, which has less brightness range than crt.

I really like the early 2000's world war two shooters because they came along at a time when I was just getting interested in history. I would learn about something in the game and then go and read a book about it and actually learn about it. They helped to few my lifelong interest in history and reading. I like to replay them every few years.

so here's some differences:
xbox version is darker
xbox version has better shading
xbox version has better texturing (noticeably)
xbox version has worse particles for things like muzzle flashes
gamecube version has TERRIBLE audio quality, clips like crazy
gamecube HUD generally looks cleaner and smoother except for radial indicators
gamecube has apparent artifacts of map triggers in the distance, doesn't look great when noticed
gamecube controls are messy, rumble bugged out and stopped responding during the mg42 sprayfest but fixed itself shortly after, firing happens on trigger completion instead of trigger pull like xbox, at one point while holding the fire button it stopped registering, my gc controller was cleaned very recently so it shouldn't be a problem

don't feel like loading it onto my PS2 so this is all you're getting
