Why isn't it called "The Legend of Link"?

Why was it never changed?

>> No.9184467

Why didn't you make any friends growing up? It would have been so easy. You should have just talked to other children.

Because you touch yourself at night.

Because the hero needs his anima to thrive. She is the 'home' the hero returns to once he has made his journey. Like Odysseus and Penelope.

Because Zelda is of noble heritage, so eventually history was told in a way that made her the real heroine and link just a footnote.

It's a good question since the girl's name cost the franchise me and probably many others as players. There still seems to be many players but you will have noted the significant gay skew.

Was Link supposed to be a kshatriya, vaishya, or shudra in the first game? Because the idea of a serf being the hero in an epic seems kinda sussy and fake.

my coworker brought this up as a joke ("doesn't 'Mario Brothers' imply their last name is Mario?") to which I said "no, that'd be incredibly stupid, it's clearly just a shorthand reference based on the titular character's fame," but then I looked it up and lo and behold, it's actually fucking Mario Mario and Luigi Mario. I'm still annoyed by how fucking stupid that is, that the boneheads at Nintendo were like "ACTUALLY yes, they do need last names; how about ummm, Mario??" MARIO MARIO and LUIGI MARIO. fuck off Nintendo. fake canon, refuse to recognize.

Actually, Pajeet, it is a common mythological theme and it's the LEGEND of Zelda after all. The Greeks went to war with the Trojans over a bitch.

Nintendo really liked the name Zelda, and I guess you could see it as Link hearing a legend in this new land (OG Link was from outside of Hyrule) that relates to its current princess. Alternatively, Zelda writes down Link's exploits and it's "her" legend as in she is the scribe.

>Zelda is an English name. It comes from the Anglo-Saxon Hildr, which means fury.
Pretty sure the direct inspiration was Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of writer F. Scott Fitzgerald who wrote The Great Gatsby. She was a symbol of a "charming woman", who high society people would fall in love with. Zelda is a very uncommon name and as someone who speaks a Germanic language I have never seen it in the wild. I don't think it's common in Anglosaxon countries either.

Never said it was a common name. It's a modern-ish rendering of an archaic name, but it's still derived from Old English (or surrounding langauges since german/norse/english are basically the same) as an original source.
