I've heard it described as the best Legend of Zelda game. It's very similar in formula in that you have your mostly silent hero and chatty sprite sidekick, linear progression through the land, accessing subsequent areas as you gain new items, weapons, abilities from the local dungeons. Features a beautiful world rich with nip lore, a charming cast of characters, lengthy playtime, and an excellent ost. Even if you dislike LoZ games, I'd encourage you to try it out. Alternatively, if you've played a lot of LoZ, it's an excellent execution of a familiar formula with a unique coat of paint.

It has combat that's so good it will make you wish every other game you play for the rest of your life had combat like it and everything else you could ever want from a video game to boot.
You know that feeling you had when you were a kid and the new game that was coming out seemed like it would be the coolest thing ever? God Hand is the game you thought that game would be.

As you play the game, you unlock moves. At any point in the game, you can open up a menu and change the moves you have equipped. At ANY point. You can open up the menu in the middle of a combo if you want.
There are over 100 moves in the game. The only limit on how cool God Hand's combat can be is your own creativity.
>Difficulty
In the bottom left corner is a difficulty meter. It fills up the better you do and empties the worse you do.
The effect is that the game automatically adjusts the difficulty at all times to be the exact right level of challenge for you. Boot the game up right after a long day at work? The difficulty is lowered until it's perfect. Completely in the zone and on a roll? The difficulty is raised until it's perfect. It's always perfect.
The general difficulty level still rises over the course of the game, with later stages putting everything you've learned to the test.
>Story
Fun and campy. The cool guys are cool, the evil guys are evil, the cute girls are cute. There are even a few surprisingly emotional moments. It's definitely never boring.
>Soundtrack
God-tier. It's also one of those games that plays your theme song mid-stage when you start kicking ass.

It's one of my favorite games ever, and I also think it's one of the best action games ever in objective sense.

Seconding this. I'd love to see more devs employ the graphical style in thier own games. The other Vanillaware title on ps2 is also worth checking out. Not as dense or long as Odin Shpere but GrimGrimoire is equally a visual treat and fun to play.
