>play games on CRT, looks good
>play games on LCD, look bad without shaders
>play games on OLED, use shaders at first but find them distracting and eventually drop them
Don't get me wrong, even on OLED some games need shaders/upscaling, like early 3D games or stuff with jailbar dithering. But I think deep down all this CRT shader stuff is just trying to compensate for how bad LCDs look. They're so sterile that you need to add texture and bloom to make games look remotely on par with a CRT.

You are mentally ill. Nobody thinks these things, they just have fun and play games. You're sick, your mind is diseased.

Sorry to hear about your impaired vision.

For me, it's not caring and just playing the game

No, he’s right. You don’t play videogames, you masturbate to nostalgia.

>saying to play games on OLED is "jerking off to nostalgia"
If OLEDs are nostalgic to you then you're too young to post here, zoomie.

A lot of people think about these things. The best people think about these things. You're a horrible person.

This looks shaded. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shaders in my time.

I have a 55" LG C9 OLED should I be fine for shaders? I run it through a rpi so I cant use royale though

Even if it can, I can't imagine it being able to do so while simultaneously running a CRT shader and not absolutely tank the framerate.

>> No.9010259

Right which is why I have no hope for Royale on the pi. all i can use are the built in ones that came with retroarch/retropie, which are okay but nothing special

I have an OLED, and the CRT is 300x better.

You need a pretty good CRT shader to trick people with close-up shots. Like Aperture or Royale.
>>9010236
Honestly, anything will look nice on an OLED. That rpi is gonna be the bottleneck here.

I literally don't care. Nothing you do or say will change the way *I* play video games and none of your opinions will ever matter to me. How awful must it be to be you, to suffer so horribly because the only thing you have that approximates a personality is thinking you're playing video games the "correct" way, and the unstoppable rage you feel that others don't respect your dogma? This is, as you have already surmised if your last two neurons haven't finally shorted out, a rhetorical question, as by the time you've read this far I've obviously already closed the tab on this idiot thread.

Using mednafen's goat shader. No scalers yet, it looks good enough. What else should I be using to approximate the image further to CRT?
Tried bsnes royale but it doesn't run.

It takes a quite discerning eye to notice if not close to the screen.

>>9010318
If it looks good enough then keep with it. The ultimate point is to make the image look better, not LARP as a CRT owner.

I use a RetroTink so my shaders are various profiles I saved through adjusting the settings to get whatever I think looks best from each console. I don't NEED the shaders to enjoy the game, but I do prefer how they look.

I'm considering getting an old VCR and using it to hook my Famicom up to the RetroTink over RF and seeing how that looks with the shaders. I want to try to make it look as much like the image on the right as possible. That should be possible purely through the RetroTink settings anyway but I want to check it over RF as a sort of experiment.

>> No.9010554

>>9010552
That sounds like a janky as shit set up and you should post pics of it here if you get it working.

>> No.9010560

>>9010554
I absolutely will, I just need to get around to trying. I need to buy an RF cable, and then I need to ask my in-laws if I can borrow their broken VCR. Either that or buy one.
