Nintendont is GC emulated in Wii mode. I know you didn't say that and I'm sorry if you genuinely only use GC discs on your Wii, but I've seen many people who use nintendont and usb loader and believe they are using native GC.

You are over subscribing the term "emulation." Wii mode does things differently to a real GC by virtue of being a superset of the hardware and what Nintendont does is literally "emulates" the back and forth a gamecube would get from the chipset. The fact that it's not 100% pure software emulation like dolphin doesn't change the fact that it's not natively executing the code. For gameplay the high CPU clock changes the way the game plays in measurable ways and for graphics there have been numerous rendering errors that have had to be hacked around along the way.

And the other anon is bang on about the other MIOS based solutions, that's why I said specifically Nintendont as it's the most popular due to being less restrictive but it's still a less than native partial emulation no matter how you philosophically slice it.

>The fact that it's not 100% pure software emulation like dolphin doesn't change the fact that it's not natively executing the code
But it is natively executing the code. Some code has been patched to redirect disc I/O, plus whatever other enhancements you choose. But the whole rest of the game runs on bare metal and there's no interpreter or recompiler anywhere.
The only unusual thing about Nintendont is that timers are patched due to the faster clock, and some I/O base registers were changed.
