Hello, I am in UK, I want to play SNES at 60hz on my CRT TV that is capable of 60hz NTSC. What is the best way to do so, do I just buy one of them modded SNES that can do 50hz and 60hz? Do I buy an NTSC Snes and a step down converter? I read people writing that you can buy a PSU for NTSC Snes that wont blow the fuck out of the console because of the ACDC Differences between PAL and NTSC regions?

>TLDR: How me play 60hz full speed SNES games in UK on my CRT TV?

Import a Super Famicom for peanuts and get a modern UK PSU, you're good to go.

>> No.8616378

Just get an SNES clone console, they can play games from any region.

Buy an NTSC SNES and either one of these.

This one had the head for an NTSC SNES power input, you'll need to find a 10v 850mAh power adapter.
Or

This place has the adapter head plus the power supply unit, but the currently do not have UK style power supplies at the moment.

SFC just uses a standard barrel plug. center pin negative, 10V, 0.85A. If you have a model 1 mega drive you can even use that.

>>8616404
What, just use a model 1 mega drive power lead into a japanese sfc?

>> No.8616487

>>8616475
Yeah, they should have the same physical barrel plug, 10V, center negative. the MD1 adapter can actually provide higher amperage (iirc 1.2), which means it can safely provide the 0.85 amps that the SFC needs.

Double check all that if you want. I suppose it's possible your region may be different, but I'm fairly certain that's the same everywhere.

I'm really not. If you get a PSU for your country with an OUTPUT that's rated for the Super Famicom (9-10V DC 850-1000mA Center Pin NEGATIVE) it will work.

If you do go this route, you might want to make sure it supports more than RF output like pic related (composite might be the default in NTSC lands?). I don't think PAL TV's will switch to 60hz mode just based on the output form one of these bad boys.

kek, this. I accidentally made the mistake one time of switching the power cables for my super famicom with the center-positive one I use for my RGB/component transcoder. Didn't see any image on the TV, then I noticed something smelled funny, and I look down at the transcoder and the little box is literally smoking. Luckily it was just the 5V regulator that was burnt and I was able to replace that part and it works fine. Still has a scorch mark on the underside of the metal cover though, lol.

This.
Plays all region's SNES games, connects to CRT or HDMI, you can use actual SNES controllers or any other number of USB/bluetooth inputs.
Also plays an large and expanding amount of other systems, which will save you time and money before you come back another day asking the best way to play x retro system.
