What is an accessory that you want to get, but can't justify the price of buying? I would love to get this to easily transfer files and tonyhax/freemcboot to my memory cards for example.

I want this too. I ended up getting the one in the pic for 30 dollars or something. But the d-pad feels so sharp and stiff. I don't like it at all. The L and R buttons don't feel too great either. It also has these arches in the back which are supposed to be for grip but I find them uncomfortable. I think it would been more worthwhile to get some adapter to use an SNES controller on the GC.

It's for the game boy player. Works with some side scrolling action games on the cube like viewtiful joe so there's like 6 or so actual GC games you can play with it. It being a GC controller also means some wii support but we're limiting out scope.

I think it's mostly desired for its shitty GC layout and snes pad shape.

>> No.8517958

>>8517940
I love the GC layout, but SNES games always feel weird, because they do things like assign jump to the X button, and if you can't rebind controls, you're stuck with using the GC X button to jump, which feels wrong.
I guess if you specifically want to play GB games on the GC, it's a perfectly fine controller, but are there not adapters available to let you use other things?

As far as I'm aware, the capacitor issues are far, far less prevalent on the standalone PC Engine/Core Grafx.

I have one of these, it's honestly not as overpriced as I thought it was going to be, it's only like 60$. I would like but know I wouldn't really use for various reasons:
DC lightguns would be cool, and I have a CRT, but I'd prefer to play HotD2 with the controller anyways. Don't really care enough for lightgun games to want to bother with getting lightguns for PSX or the SNES one.
PSX multi-tap would be cool, but I really don't play any of the games that use it, and I'd be hard pressed to find three other people looking to play 1/4th screen split-screen gameplay.
DC VGA box. Yeah, I know it improves graphics in X games, and I have a near-mint CRT monitor sitting around, but all the games work on my CRT TV anyways and I don't have to play the "Does this game work with the VGA mode?" game when trying new games. I'm fine with S-Video.
PSX link cable. Would love to do some 1VS1 games on full screen, but I would need another TV and PSX setup to use it.
Can't justify the price:
Arcade machines/boards. Paying $250-$1000 for most titles, or 10x that if less than common, for single games. When the majority can be emulated in MAME with whatever controls you want. Would be neat, but too much space and money for the amount of time I could play it.

>No but the supergrafx games only work through an RGB connection because that’s what the fpga is connected through as that layer needs to be emulated by the FPGA
That is extremely gay, the only Supergrafx game I would ever bother playing is Ghouls N Ghosts but I imagine other people not liking this limitation.

No problem, that's what I assumed. Like I said, it's not THAT big of a deal since the same logic still applied even back when they were (relatively) cheap at like 20 bucks. 3 games still isn't able to justify it regardless, so it's whatever. No big deal.

The Smartjoy Frag for the PS2. Not because it's expensive, but because it doesn't fucking exist, at least not anymore. That thing is nowhere to be found no matter how hard I look. The only thing I can find is the Xbox version of the Smartjoy Frag, but there are so few of those laying around that people are charging too much for them. Jesus fuck. I wish I had known about this shit when I younger while ones for PS2 were still around.

Jitters about the screen even when set up correctly, which results in inaccuracy. With a light gun you don't want inaccuracy, its pretty much on par with playing with a control pad where the buttons register only 90% of the time, it works just not well enough to be a satisfying experience.

Is the Video output on your Dreamcast really overblown? It is on my unit. Outputting via VGA is the only way to resolve it, but I think that's also the VGA monitor correcting itself to appropriate levels.

Only mods I've found online are to add resisters to the VGA box. Not looking forward to it.

Some more I saw.

Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter. Sure, would be cool and all, but I don't play any of the games it supports.
Game Boy 4 Player Game Link. Really don't play most of the games supported, and when the hell am I ever going to find three other people with GB/GBC/GBA's and link cables who want to play those specific games?
Game Boy Link Cable. Where the hell am I gonna go where I'll find someone with another GB/GBC/GBA who wants to play Bomberman or some shit while tied with a cable?
PSX Game Booster. While playing GB games on the PSX sounds neat, I'd much rather play them on a Super Game Boy. It supports all GB games, not just most.

Actually I'm OP and got "lucky" enough to find someone selling on with the wire for $60 after tax and shipping. Hoping that it works as the guy said he used it once and forgot about it until he recently sold his PS2. Sony makes some pretty nifty devices (Vita(TV), this memory dongle and PSP Go) but completely SHIT THE BED when it comes to supporting said items. Granted a memory card adapter doesn't need support, but you hopefully see my point). I guess it was part of that Japanese charm when it comes to "game accessories") that is all but dead after moving to California.

At least Hori seems to be making some cool new items, like that module item they looking into here: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/01/hori-wants-to-release-a-retro-game-controller-that-can-be-used-to-play-hamsters-arcade-archives-series
