How do I fix this wobbly effect on my commodore 64? I have it connected via rf. PLA chip or rf modulator?

It's a brand new cable, I think it's hardware related but I can't find much info on this specific issue. This is the cable I bought and the only bad reviews are related to it not fitting on some ataris

What about moving your cords around and having them hang differently and such, to vary the interference and maybe reduce it?

Just tried it, had it basically touching nothing and still have waves

In my experience RF encoders "rot". It doesn't matter which console they are in they just turn into rusted crap. What you could do is get composite + audio leads for the DIN plug on the back and then feed that into a modern RF encoder box.

Then you are fucked. RF can only get about that much quality. Hell that's still ten times better than the quality I had with RF cables back in the 80s. I remember when I first managed to get a home-soldered composite cable and what a tenfold increase it gave in video quality for my C64.

So glad I dumped all my rotting plastic onto dumb ass coomlectors, good luck fixing that and all other components which are about to fail.

Damn, I kinda like it in a way. Makes it feel even more grimey than it already is. I didn't grow up with this stuff, just pc's, so I didn't know if this was normal or not. Still having a good time with it though, mostly wanted it for mssiah cartridges and using it as a synthesizer.

RF is shit, yes. Get an A/V cable but don't connect it up unless you first use a multimeter to test which cables go where and then carefully mark them because you could blow up your SID connecting it to the video input on the TV.

Thats literally normal behavior for RF. Its the ambient interference in the air along with the bleed in noise from both the C64 and the TV... How young are you anon?

Using it as a synthesizer. Emulated sid chip sounds like shit compared to the real thing

>> No.8248869

>>8248863
I pulled up a video of BMX Kidz shot off a real C64 and realized immediately how much worse emulation sounds. The real SID has a warmth and resonance to its sound that emulators miss.

>> No.8248883

>>8248869
Emulated is very sharp, almost hurts to listen. Also adds weird noisy layers to everything that sounds nothing like the original.

>> No.8248886

which is interesting because emulated NES sound doesn't sound different from the real thing in any meaningful way but emulated C64 is way off

Anyone know of some good long demoscenes I can run for a halloween party? Preferably loops on its own

>> No.8248909

>>8248869
>>8248883
All the difference is is a low pass filter or not. A lot of emulators don't have one turned on by default, but it is plenty easy to make an emulated Sid sound like real hardware. This is a user error problem.

You sure its the actual commodore? I have 5 CRT's and one of them does the same thing as yours. But if I plug it into a different CRT it stops. So I'd say this is the tube.
