Time for announced but unreleased games. Starting with NES.

Blazebusters AKA Super Rescue AKA Flying Hero - Nexsoft/ASCII and CSG Imagesoft
Back when CSG Imagesoft was working on Super Sushi Pinball, they were also trying to bring over Flying Hero, only they called it Super Rescue. Didn't get far. This time around ASCII is trying to bring it over as Blazebusters. Didn't happen. Either way it's a very simple Arkanoid type game involving firefighters. No wonder it got cancelled. No fan translation exists, but none is needed.

Super Square Deal AKA Square Deal AKA Great Deal - Hector
Weird cross between Tetris and Poker. Was supposed to be Super Square Deal on the NES, and Square Deal on the GB. Not 100% sure about the GB version, but the NES version got cancelled. Prototype was found and dumped, where the title screen calls it Square Deal, but the cartridge was labeled Great Deal.
https://hiddenpalace.org/w/images/a/aa/Square_Deal_%28Prototype%29.zip

Now for GB.

Tricks & Traps AKA Mad Magazine's Official Spy vs Spy - Kemco
Japanese port of the Spy VS Spy games, same gameplay but no split screen. Was gonna get brought over to the US, but didn't in the end. No fan translation exists, but none is really needed.

See you folks next thread.

Read the Captain Planet entry in that Classified Information. I wonder about how they learn these secrets. Here in the Gradius III section they claim to have discovered more secret areas that couldn't be published previously because they hadn't been found yet, suggesting that some player actually spent time searching for them. Did that really happen, and if so was it a reader or a Nintendo employee? Or did they just hold off on publishing them all at once so they'd have more material to print later (in which case the story about agents finding the other areas later would be a lie)?

I always figured some of these more obscure codes had to be fed to the magazine by the developers, because otherwise how would you ever learn them? But now I know that disassembly is possible, and that things can be discovered that way... I imagine they probably just heard it from the developers though.

And probably at least a few glitch exploitations and such came in from readers. I sent one in once, but I don't think it ever got printed.

>being pushed on kids
Nigger, the kids were the ones pushing to watch the movies. The companies didn't have to put any effort into it. You know what were popular movies in the early 90's among kids? Aliens, Rambo 2, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street films. None of which were considered acceptable for children. Hell, The Goonies was considered unacceptable material for children due to the kids in the movie swearing, but that didn't stop it from being popular among kids back then.
Besides, it's a little late to complain about something like Robocop when they already have two games based on a manga series about a cold-blooded assassin where you literally shoot people in the head. They even showed him smoking in NP when they covered the Mafat Conspiracy.

Midway published Pacman in the arcades back in 1980, and basically controlled the US side of things until Namco severed that connection years later, and Namco wasn't playing ball with the NES's numerous restrictions.
