>Latest Updates
New core: Interact Home Computer
- Available at: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Interact_MiSTer
- Supports HDMI, joysticks & keyboard, loads cassettes in popular emulator formats
- Todo: Sound support

New core: Compukit UK101
A port of Grant Searle's UK101 FPGA project.
- Available at: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/UK101_MiSTer
- This is a reconstruction of a kit computer from the late 1970s, based on a 6502 CPU.
- Supports saving and loading via UART. Selectable colour schemes.
- Still to do: Make loading and saving more convenient.

>What is MiSTer?

MiSTer is an open project that aims to recreate various classic computers, game consoles and arcade machines, using modern hardware. It allows software and game images to run as they would on original hardware, using peripherals such as mice, keyboards, joysticks and other game controllers.

Holy crap, that's fa-
>Emulator runs at about 40% speed, video playback is at 2x speed.
This should be illegal.

>> No.8044525

>>8044484
>One important point is that the emulator is not optimized for speed. It runs games at 30-40% of the speed and rebuilds the hardware without any tricks. I rebuilt the whole 5 stage CPU, which usually emulators wouldn’t do.
>Thus, it cannot be used to play any game, it’s purely a research project. But by calculating every component for every clock cycle, I can directly use this information for the FPGA code, simplifying the process.
Getting the emulator running full speed isn't really the point

All the more reason to not speed up the video.

So basically since he using an another approach of Laxer and Ultra, all the preworks done will not help in his case ?

>> No.8045267

>>8045247
Basically his approach is that if he wants to understand the system properly it would be better for him to start from scratch and develop it from the ground up which is fair enough.

>> No.8045482

>>8045247
Not necessarily. He can drip in any completed work into his core very easily. Might speed up his development time if he does. Devs don't recreate work when it's already been done.

Oh thank Christ.
I ordered my MiSTer setup for PS1 games, primarily, and it was really disappointing when I heard the project had stalled.

I don't even care that he's starting over, it's just nice to know it's not in limbo.

>> No.8047583

The previous guy had games running at like 90% full speed on a different FPGA with fewer logic elements. It would have worked had he finished it, and now someone will.
Also I had a lot of old gaming shit I never really played basically sitting in a drawer that I could sell off by downsizing to a MiSTer. That, and I was vindicated for buying it when I did, because I got my DE10 for $105 and now they cost double that.
