What the fuck is the best way to play amiga games. I actually found a bunch of ports and shit that look worthwhile to play over the dos or c64 counterparts. What actual good games are on the amiga, not british vagina sister clone bullshit? the only good game i remember playing on the amiga was it came from the desert, which is a fucking fantastic sci fi horror-esque game with a great atmosphere, story, gamplay and music. a few games im looking to play are: albion, hillsfar, megatraveller 1 and 2 and a few others. the amiga isnt just about crappy britfag demoscene garbage, theres a nice amount of really nice ports.

My favorite game on it is Lost Patrol, basically a short strategy game where you navigate a squad of soldiers through Vietnam and have various choices to make and deal with mini-games involving engagements you get in with the Vietcong. Has some really beautiful art too.

it looks good for 1989, but it was published by psygnosis, not exactly demoscene stuff, like usually see being paraded, but thats exactly why i made this thread. Ive played amiga before and know theres a bunch of good games on them, but theses threads always devolve into brit demoscene garbage and hatred. so, this is more focused on the ports or mulitplat side of things.

SOTB is really just an own-goal anyway. Nobody looks at that game and thinks "wow I really missed out." They think "no wonder I never heard about this game." Normal people aren't impressed by bad artwork and awkward special effects no matter how technically impressive they might have been for the time.

WinUAE is THE Amiga emulator. All others are forks or long discontinued.
On Retroarch I use Puae and it works nicely, but Amiga emulation can be quite complicated for a newcomer.
You need proper "bios" roms and the emulator is quite picky if the hash doesn't match.
Most games need a 1.3 kickrom, some do require 1.2. So get those first.
Then you have to find out if the game is better on PAL or NTSC. Most flatpanels support 50hz video mode. Just untick the "show only supported modes" and then select 50hz. This is a must since even officical NTSC/PAL fixes on the Amiga only make things worse.

The demoscene was almost entirely continental European, not British, and Great Giana Sisters was a German game.
Have fun playing games as boring as Hillsfar.

Get the WHDLoad pack. All games that the community put work in to be playable without hassle, so you know they are at least worth that much. No copy protection, no disk swapping and also a few fan-made patches.
Best way to try the Amiga software.
I recommend sims. Amiga usually had better sound effects than dos (pic related).
