The problem is when the game is doing anything other than having you sneak around and knock out guards. Which it does for a few levels. Eh, you can chalk it up to it being a genre still kinda virgin, like most of you posting here.

Thief would be better if NPCs could wake up others, it's just way too easy to knock everybody out and then just round around looting everything.

there's a couple instances where it's not advisable but I really think the thief games benefit from iron manning the individual levels, when you do that being able to knock out guards pretty easily doesn't feel like such a cheat, besides making everything more tense.
