Spend the money getting some decent controllers and a flash cart instead of game carts and CR2023 batteries and you'll have a cool party box. Assuming your friends appreciate the finer things in life like blurry 20fps video games. Mine sees some use anyway.

I bought one with an everdrive and for the price of everything, no, not really worth it. Most of the games perform surprisingly bad. It has its great titles but the small library mixed with the performance make it kinda underwhelming compared to my FMCB PS2 and gdemu Dreamcast. I’ll keep it around for a few titles. I’d rather keep it than emulate. I also like having it for nostalgia’s sake but for the admission price I can’t recommend it.

No, not really. Of all the consoles I went back and tried for the first time years later, the N64 is easily the worst. Best is the PC Engine.

Since it's literally the "only fun with friends" console, there's really no value in owning one. The games aren't anything special and if you were in any proximity to one growing up you played all its good games. Many of which have been ported.
