I played Parappa 1 (haven't played other Parappa games) on PSX (on CRT) and the controls don't feel responsive at all. Part of it may be the very poor feedback but I also think the timing isn't right. Whatever the cause, Beatmania completely blew it out of the water and if you're used to modern rhythm games going back to Parappa will suck. It was revolutionary but later improvements to the genre make it bad in comparison.
