When I first got an HD tv, I tried using composite cables for PS2 games. FFXII looked great in 480p, and all, but the screen would fucking flicker out every 10 minutes.
The worst was Klonoa 2, though. The cutscenes couldn't handle the Resolution, so they would switch out everytime a cutscene started, which mean EVERY TIME A CUTSCENE STARTED you'd miss the first 5 seconds of it. It fucking ruins the experience.

20" Model 20FV300. Bought it new on clearence from Circuit City in 2005. Extremely rare these days I hear.

>> No.6789437

>>6789227
You need to find a schematic for your board, it will help alot.

The solder points are stolen from the RGB off the jungle chip that supplies RGB to the on screen display. Most also install a switch the will re-enable the OSD for calibration.

There's no real universal guide because every TV is different. You just need to know the general process and learn enough about electronics to adapt it to your specific TV. If you post the model here I can try to help you out.

>>6789437
That's the old, outdated method. Most people these days mux the external RGB with the OSD RGB so the OSD still works at all times. It's easier, neater, and probably also technically better for signal integrity.

Do you need to wiggle the sockets/cables to get the picture to work?

If so it's probably a cracked solder joint on the connectors. A pretty easy fix if you can use a soldering iron

Go look up as much information as possible on working inside a CRT.
You should also learn how to discharge one properly, unless you want to get zapped and possibly die.

There's a big red wire that goes into the top of the tube. Avoid touching it at all costs. Even if the TV hasn't been powered on forever, assume it's still gonna kill you until you discharge it.

Let's be honest it probably won't kill you, but it would hurt like a bitch. Easy tool to make is to strip an extension cord and electrical tape it around a big flathead screwdriver and unplug the TV and stick it under the anode cap.

It doesn't matter if it probably won't kill you, because it easily CAN kill you. All it takes is you being unlucky and having that shit go directly through your heart to fuck you up and give you cardiac arrest.
Notice on how electrical hazard signs they say "Serious shock or death". CRTs are certainly within that capability. You're only being safe if you respect the fact what you're working with can kill you.
