Collectorfags, what's the most you've ever spent on one game? What's your limit?

>> No.6744727

$230. For a NeoGeo game.
But it wasn't for collecting purposes, it was for "I want to play Metal Slug 2" purposes.

>> No.6744730

There are a lot of cheaper ways to play Metal Slug 2.

250 Canuck-Bucks for Magic Knight Rayearth

I've bought plenty of stuff in the 100-150 range but MKR remains the only game I've ever crossed the 200 dollar mark.

I'm starting a new career where I'll be making basically double the money I was previously though, so I'll have more cash to start aggressively finishing my want list in the not too distant future.

I recall spending about $250 on an AES game in 90/91. Of course that's not retro because retro ackchyually means 20+ years old amirite. For second hand stuff the most I ever paid was $5 each for some CIB pokemans carts.

See I was lucky. I managed to get mine for 80 bucks just before the retro bubble was starting to swell. On that note I paid about 90 for Albert 80ish for Shining Wisdom. Managed to get Shining Force 3 for 70. Dragon Force was probably the most expensive at 95.

But my usual limit doesn't exceed 100 PLN and the cheapest game I bought is loose Gradius II for Famicom from a local reseller, it costed me about 30 PLN, about $8 back in 2019.

It's a fun little action rpg. Though being honest the cost it demands these days is pretty retarded. I stepped away from the community before they got taken out, but NGF was obsessed with being the center of everything NeoGeo or at least present themselves as the official US representative. They’d stamp/sticker everything with their name. And one move (of probably a laundry list) I wager is what that photo relates to.

The case spines have a colored stripe that apparently correspond to the genre (sports, shooting, etc.) Some covers had the wrong color, so they had “corrected” ones printed up, and argued the officialness of them, citing they went to the same printers and such. I don’t recall if they had other changes made besides the stripe (ie inserting their name somewhere.) When selling games at events, they’d swap out the insert on the spot, trashing he original. I figure those shredder photos is just an additional finger to the community.

$100
That's what I paid for a pristine copy of MGS: GB and every single classic SH game.

For the record, I make sure to play and beat all the stuff I buy. I've heard of people who are into this shit as well, and never touch any of their games. It's mind boggling.

The most Ive spent on a game that I then havent really played... hmm. I dont know really, I tend to only really buy games I play. I dont really have enough money to just collect.
