It's pretty bad.
Long story short: the movie has two stories: a normal Arino challenge, a retelling of his Mighty Bomb Jack live challenge and a love story set in the past about a kid trying to impress a girl with videogames. It's the most unoriginal shit ever with the typical antics and cliches including bullies.
Then there's a part where the kid literally time travels to the future and appears in the stage where Arino is playing Bomb Jack, tries to help him, fails and returns to his seat to keep watching him.
And during this time the movie is constantly switching between 4:3 and 16:9 and it's a bit jarring.
Arino is right, just don't watch it, even he knows it's bad.

I was always curious, why is the wording in so many Japanese to English translations so... kooky? There's a certain sentence structure that, while grammatically correct, doesn't sound right when repeated out loud by native English speakers. Perhaps the translators are being too literal with their translations, or is the Japanese language that unwieldy? >Read about Jeremy Blaustein translating the first Metal Gear Solid, then Agyness Kaku translating Metal Gear Solid 2. Kojima loved the translation of MGS1 at first, then learned a little later on how much liberty Blaustein took in translating (just standard to make everything match up with cutscenes etc.) and got angry. With MGS2 Kaku had much less freedom, even certain words had to be translated directly/to a certain word. This is why in MGS2 characters say things like "sneaking mission" which sound stupid in English. Probably just the same thing today in Death Stranding, too literal translation because Kojima's trying to protect his work too much.

According to Japanese Twitter, Arino beat Hammerin' Harry in 1 hour and 50 minutes - his second fastest clear time.
The challenge also seems to have been filmed without any staff assistance at all.

Lol that's literally what happened. Arino-san alone! I bet the narrator had fun with this.

>>6586385

Is that the Famicom or Super-Famicom version? Please not another Fami-game. I'm kind of sick of that systerm. I think they should limit the amount of Fami games per season and try to introduce more N64, MD, SS, PS, PCE, and other consoles.

My wishlist for this season is a Zelda game or DKC3.

Fastest clear time is the penguin love story game right?

We knew when the game was announced last week that it was Famicom and that there was no staff help.

They're definitely due for more Zelda and DKC, hopefully this season. I think that penguin game is still the fastest clear.

This ignores the basic fact that Agness Kaku is a literal retard who shouldn't be anywhere fucking near a piece of entertainment. There are dozens of examples in the intro alone where she rewrote shit poorly because she hasn't even the most basic understanding of how people talk.

MGS2's translation was poor thanks to Kojima, but it was even worse than it had to be thanks to Kaku.

You might have seen hundreds of hours of him, but you don't know the real Arino-sama. That guy is playing a character. I think one of the only times he dropped character was in that Angel Quiz game where he gets very oddly defensive about his daughters dating. That brought out the stern Japanese father in him.

Game Center CX isn't even Arino's claim to fame. No one here knows the real him but IN MY HUMBLE OPINION he's not going to risk his comedy career over the chubby woman on his video game show.

He has mentioned in a few episodes that as time goes on, more people recognize him as "Arino-kacho" and less recognize him as "Arino of Yoiko".

To be fair being recognized for your own project sounds a lot better than being recognized as one guy in a crowd of 50 duos sitting in a studio on a show with canned hyena laughter.
It's honestly one of the reasons GCCX is watchable to this day, just staff, a comedian and a solid premise.

Like a youtuber, he has a presenter mode, and you never get to see the real him.

GCCX was supposed to be a side project, and it sort of is (2 eps per month isn't much). But it's remarkable it's become as popular as it has.

I'm not making any accusations since this entire conversation is pure speculation, but "real" Arino is definitely not like Arino-kacho. His jumpsuit, blue collar worker hairstyle, and employee-esque demeanor are all affectations for the character. Whenever you see him caught outside he looks much more like a typical celebrity/actor, dressing "cool" and with a much more contemporary hairstyle, and not acting like a humbled doddering middle manager. In that world, it's entirely within the realm of normality to pork your female assistants.

That's more because literally every male in Japan spends half his time at soaplands to avoid the nagging wife, so men don't give a shit.

Plenty of women have had their careers completely fucked because they slept with married men, Becky was an obvious recent example. Women are eviscerated by other women who are terrified of some young starlet seducing their husbands into leaving them.

If the virus hangs around for a long time or gets worse again, they'll probably have more easy games, maybe more one-day shoots stretched into two episodes, maybe a relocation to somewhere more spacious like they did for the live commemoration.

With the added bonus of "no negativity" for the script, until somebody pokes fun at it and they just improve in a way that would get them blacklisted for Jap advertisement shows.

I watched the Retro Game master versions of a lot of episodes like Clock Tower, etc. The resaon being that the "full" eps are in some ungodly 320x240 early youtube tier with insane blur and compression. You can hardly tell what's going on!
