Software is not a platform, so OS and Direct X version are irrelevant. For PCs, the video card is the platform. Voodoo 5, the worst video card that could run Half Life 2 (not retro) was released in 2000 and is not retro.
What was your favorite retro PC platform, that is video card released before 2000?
For me it was the Nvidia TNT 2 from 1999.

also i found a dude on Newegg a couple days ago selling oem 32 meg TNT2 cards for 16 bux. looks like for real ones, not M64, too many chips. It's obviously not gonna be one of the fastest clocked versions but, i dunno, might be an alright choice for this k6-2 box i been working on.

The rules being retarded aren't my problem. If you go by OP's definition, google around and you can see someone got fortnight running on a Geforce 256. So even by his rules it's now random.

Simply put, the rules here are stupid and stupid workarounds can be made but it's not in the spirit of the board. Just keep it old and don't troll other old gane threads because it's not a platform you like.
