Yup, being captured is being brave, yet fighting against hordes of monsters to rescue people out of your own heroism is not. God i hate strawman comics

They always need to tear men down to build women up because competing directly the winner is clear to everyone. Why should people respect women as if they were men doing men shit? is it because women's role has been reduced to fuck hole?

I love this comic because it really hits how important framing is. There’s more than one way to look at Zelda’s situation. When you play as Link and follow Link around, you only see him–yourself–as the brave one. You don’t see Zelda. She’s somewhere far away. She’s a goal and an idea, not a person. But this comic takes a moment to look at Zelda, a young child alone and trapped in a dark room filled with the bones of miserable people who died where she now sits. She’s enduring. As brave and heroic and duty-bound as Link is, he has freedom and pride and an opportunity to make friends and exist in the world in a way that Zelda does not as she endures the fear and isolation of her situation. I love this comic because it makes me empathize strongly with Zelda in such a short and simple comic, and it draws attention to the tremendous bravery that Zelda herself has as she sits alone and endures.

Some LoZ games do a better job with this kind of framing than others. BoTW, Skyward Sword, and Spirit Tracks give Zelda attention and respect and take the time to develop her as a character who demonstrates her own kind of bravery while battling against the darkness that threatens the world. Phantom Hourglass? That’s the one where Tetra spends the entire game literally being an object.

It’s because of people like you that never recognize women’s struggles and tribulations. You want to shit all over everyone without realizing it isn’t a competition. They aren’t trying to compete they just want to be respected and recognized.

A political prisoner is imprisoned for their thoughts or actions. Zelda is imprisoned because she's Zelda. She didn't heroically sacrifice herself to get imprisoned. She's just a valuable girl.

It's just a classic nintendo sexism. They can't think of anything other than damsel waifu in distress to make so'yboy incel gamers feel empowered. They refuse to make Link a girl because male gamers who fail at real life need to feel like they're in control all the time when they play games. Nintendo loves pandering to the lowest common denominator.

its not women vs men is "protagonist" vs "useless npc which is solely a plot device"

the genres of the character in question are irrelevant. swap link for ki and zelda for whatever the name of the dude she rescues in tower of ki, its the same shite

Why not pick any version of Zelda that was proactive in trying to oppose Ganon? Yeah, holding strong in the face of opposition is still bravery but just sitting in a cell is a poor juxtaposition to Link literally fighting monsters and demons and such.

>> No.6149309

This is stupid shit. No one fucking cares. Its funny you hear all this shit some, SOME, people spew about women this and women that but just read some romance novels or other shit written for women and you'll see what they really like and want.

All this sexist shit and #metoo but funny that 50 shades of grey was such a hit.

Thats another reason you got all these beta white knights that cant get a woman. You zoomers will figure this shit out one day.

And for all we know, Zelda was screaming and crying her eyes out for every second of it until Link showed up. Link took initiative, which required bravery. Zelda just got thrown in a cell. That comic is such a false comparison that it fucking hurts.

If the message is "you assholes didn't actually care about Zelda in 1 or LTTP", then yes, you're right. I played them for gameplay, not to rescue a plot device. The story in the core Zelda games have never been particularly interesting.
And yes, Zelda was somewhat interesting in later games. But that's because she WASN'T just rotting in prison the whole time.

Link has never expressed these thoughts. No LoZ game has ever expressed this idea. No one who has ever played any LoZ has ever carried on thinking that while playing as Link. Zelda sitting in prison is not a game. These two panels fail on every level.
