who remembers when games were fun? what's the best memory you have of being that little one with that sense of wonder in a virtual world. for me it's playing sm64 on a lodgenet in a hotel room and listening to the birds chirp outside the caslte. maybe not. idk.

Probably my earliest game-related snapshot memory was when I was in Kindergarten. I would mostly just watch my dad play SNES/Mario World. Was in bed for the night about to go to sleep when my dad came in excited that he beat the ghost house in vanilla dome and he was describing how this new level had him on a skull boat on top of a lava river. Of course I was now too excited to sleep! He didn't beat Castle 3 for awhile, the game was like a journey for us.

For me going into my local arcade and seeing the TMNT arcade game for the first time
Like a lot of other kids I was huge on the Turtles, I loved the TV cartoon since day 1 and the Nintendo game was a disappointment for me for among many other things it wasn't all that much like the cartoon.

Then I went into Borden's and saw that TMNT machine right there in the front. My mind was absolutely blown. A TURTLES GAME JUST LIKE THE CARTOON! It looked and sounded like it, it was so faithful there were even the little wheeled robots at the end of the first level, Rocksteady entered in a Transport Module, the third level had Mousers. And you could have all four Turtles playing simultaneously!

I felt like a great wrong had been made right. I've never had as much hype playing a game before or since.

It's 1983.

I am 4 years old, nearly 5.

My mum gets a Sinclair Spectrum.

I watch her as she plays Manic Miner, and Run, Rabbit, Run.

She teaches me how to load the tapes, and shows me how to play the games.

I am 41 now. My mum has MS and no longer plays games.

That memory is as fresh now as it was then.

I love you, mum.

I never said it was the best game and/or machine.

OP asked for favourite memories of gaming.

I shared one.

Suck my dick.

Sure but it must feel slightly worse that instead of some Nintendo or SMS games you were playing - to use a technical gaming review term - a shitload of fuck.

That was 1983, you fucking morons.

I had a NES, and a Master System II (with Alex Kidd in Miracle World built in), and I had a SNES, and then an N64, and then a PlayStation, and so on and so forth.

As good as a time I may have had on all those machines - and continue to do so today - the memory I originally shared is my most favourite.

Holy fuck, this fucking board.

Being 8 in the later half of the 90s and playing Golden Axe with my cousin. He had two of pick related. They were amazing, the game and the controller

I wish I wasn't such a fucking tight wad when it comes to money, because I really want that controller
