It makes perfect sense, armored suits of kevlar and tanks are both militarily useful, and piloted robots are just an advance in those 2 fields. Also a humanoid machine is easier to learn and more intuitive for human to control if it's done with "when you move the robot moves" design.

Not that guy, but I think sometimes it is better for something to stay small or mid size, especially either 1) a product from an active company which continues to produce items iterative of that product, or 2) a defunct product no longer made, which has only a small existing supply

Too much demand will make supply hard for me to get, so while admittedly it's selfish desires, it is still a reason that is valid for me. As for the other point, I prefer niche things as they tend to be more tailor-made to their niche. Mass-appeal inevitably leads to lowest common denominator as a focus, and that's how you end up with HD-era AAA games.

Collectortards with genuine mental illness and a lack of identity. Ask them if theyve done no death runs or anything else indicating that they played the game properly and watch them give excuses, go quiet or change topic outright. That is because they treat video games like teenage girls treat clothes and subcultures, as accessories for their collector identity.

While I agree with you that collectors (especially ones that started collecting post-2000) are a stain in video game culture, but so are "hardcore" kids who copy strats from other people and make their whole identity around speedruns, 1ccs, and what have you.
Both ends of the stick are bad.
The best way to enjoy retro games is to have been alive back then, and not fall into either collectortards or copymonkeytards.

Also, streaming is a hyper-exaggerated version of the social aspects inherent to gaming, whereas before you'd talk about your achievements with your friends and maybe local community if you're lucky, now you can share that shit with the wider community via streaming. For zoomers this is a natural state of affairs because they grew up with the net and net communities, to them these ARE the arcade spectators and acquaintances. Who cares if nobody here plays them? 6th gen players have more passion and vitality because they are still pretty young and treat the games as something current rather than as a relic. Magical Pop'n was an incredibly polished late Super Fami game. Featuring great music, graphics, smooth animations, great combat, and a lot of soul.

It was overshadowed, even in Japan, because it had no ad budget, and it was released late in 1995. The entire focus was on the Saturn, Playstation, the upcoming N64, and 3D games. In America it was never even released. Had the game been released in 1993 and given worldwide release it would have been considered a beloved classic.

And now because of its very limited print run, boxed copies of the game fetch 1,100 USD.

It actually makes more sense for younger people to be pissed at modern games, than older people, since they're the ones who are living through it first-hand (DLC, DRM, and all that stuff that make people rage).

Most of the guys I used to play fighters with back in the day were into sports as well as other video games. Heck the guy who first showed me what ROMs are and had a ripper is now a sports writer.
