Watch. I’m gonna say I like this game, and most DKC fans are gonna have some reason to pull out of their ass it was garbage compared to 2.

>Donkey Kong in the title
>Donkey Kong not in the game
Even if the gameplay itself is ok, that's a cardinal sin.

Neither was he playable in DKC2 but you people still play it anyways.

It's a really good platformer

It had Diddy Kong, and he gets a hood pass.

Actually since there's dkc 3 thread. Is there any point of playing the "hard mode". Other than to get that 105% completion or whatever it was

dixie sucks and kiddy is ok but neither are as good as diddy

It's a great game and as a kid (10 years old) who had the other two games I felt like this game was more well rounded and a little easier to complete with 100%. The layout of where the bonus barrels were and the DK coins made it for formulayic and easier. DKC1 didn't give me any incentive to find all the bonuses and I had no idea why my game was at 55% when I had beaten every level. DKC2 is the better of the three games but only when I come back to it as an adult. DKC2 had very randomly placed DK coins and some levels were a lot harder.

I really enjoyed all the extra things you could do in DKC3 and talking to the bears, the unique boss battles, the overworld map letting you swim around and find secret caves and upgrading your boat.

I don't place these games in order of best to worst because I like them all equally. If I want a casual playthrough of a very atmospheric game then I play DKC1, but if I want tight platforming and a very rewarding experience then I play DKC2 and if I just want to have some silly fun without too much challenge then I play DKC3.

K.Rool sucks in Smash Ultimate
why did they made him a sumo wrestler?

>> No.5961754

All three games are near as makes no difference the same.
Medium-difficulty fluid platforming games. I love DKC3 myself. 2>3>1 to me, but they're so close it's not really a big deal.
When I'm playing 3, 3 is my fave. When I'm playing 1, that's my fave.

>> No.5961756

I used to think 2 > 1 > 3 but honestly it's more like 2 > 1 = 3. All three are pretty good though.

How the actual fuck can you think Diddy is better than Dixie?

It takes away the Continue and DK Barrels, but there's no change to layouts or enemy placement or anything if that's what you're asking

It was the shitty soundtrack when compared to the first two that killed it for me.

>> No.5961867

I guess maybe not everybody knows this, but the Gameboy Advance port of Donkey Kong Country 3 contained a completely different soundtrack than the original. The lack of a backlight on the OG GBA models forced them to brighten up to colors of the first two games to compensate and it totally ruined the ambiance, especially for the second one. So they decided "fuck it, lean into the curve" and this was the result:

I'll never understand anons who dislike 3's soundtrack. Do you fuckers not have ears?

>> No.5962723

It's because of Stilt Village and the fact it's one of the first songs you hear in the game. I bet if it weren't for that and people playing more than the first world they'd love it a lot more than they seem to do now.

This, the best songs are a couple worlds in, and the first level has the cringiest intro in the whole series but I think the song as a whole is a good fit for the environment, reminds me of a Minnesotan Polka Band playing in a mountain retreat
