A small part of her character is that she's bored, unchallenged, and a little unprofessional - having her slipper absent-mindedly hanging off her foot during a medical inspection neatly hints at that without taking up too much space.

I think that image sums up one of the reasons why Rival Schools still has a fan base - it's crammed with character and attention to detail, if you really want to see it.

Yeah, and it makes the plot in the Dreamcast sequel a bit timid too - they're all on good terms, and the fights happen largely out of misunderstandings or manipulation.

That said, I always thought the original plot of Batsu fighting hypnotised kids who'd been hypnotised by teachers who'd been hypnotised by their boss, who'd been hypnotised by the student president who was following orders from a sword haunted by Batsu's uncle, was pretty funny, and admirably self aware. Project Justice lacked that humour, I think.

They were just about to toss it out with the rest of the trash for that night (it was nearing closing time), so I snagged it.

I tried playing the simulation mode without understanding a thing before. I got a flash kick and a Zangief style atomic buster as super. Shits too strong when it connects, dealing 50% of the life bar.

Played the hell out of the first and second games.
Managed to play the simulation modes by brute force and got the good endings with Natsu, Akira and Kyoko.

Tried it once, arcade mode seemed to go on for an eternity. Like 30 minutes in and I was still fighting dudes until I just got wiped out. Maybe it was bad emulation too, I don't know, but it seemed to be a super fast paced fighter and I wasn't ready for that. I only care about Akira anyway.

A great game series which all of my friends love. I sandbag my play just to let them have some joy. It is nice to see when Capcom has not forgotten the series by having the characters show up in CVS2, TVC, and the Namco X Capcom games.
