The best Castlevania game, as always, is whichever one someone else on /vr/ does NOT like.

My favorite Castlevania game is, as always, the game that anyone else on /vr/ hates.

Best is III, as in the most realized Castlevania.
Favorites can't decide between 1, IV, Rondo and X68K, they're all great.

Best: 3
Favorite: Lament of Innocence.

>> No.5411279

SCIV & CV1 are the best.

The rest are generally good, save for some obscure ports.

>> No.5411293

I like 3 best but I've never played SOTN yet

>> No.5411326

Best and fav gonna be Rondo of Blood. Great music, cool levels, challenging boss fights, tight controls, super weapons, with two characters and routes. 3 and SoTN are close, but the first had way too much autistic enemy spam near the end and the later’s castle flip was overhyped backtracking.

No.

Why would you pick a different best and favourite? What is wrong with your brain?

>> No.5413138

Every Classicvania is good
Rondo is probably the best.
Super IV is great despite what /vr/ says.

I haven't played the DS ones yet, but I assume they are pretty good.

The original is by far the best, tightest, and most focused game in the series. Rondo is alright, but very overrated. 2 is underrated. 4 is babby's first bombastic next-gen remake (but still a good game). x64k is pretty good, but boring towards later stages. Bloodlines has amazing music, impressive visual effects and shit everything else. SotN+ are all trash in terms of gameplay, although SotN is stellar aesthetically.

The computer ports. :^)

>> No.5413165

>>5413152
I looked at the video of the PC port and go to 0:47. One thing that floored me is that they copied the NTSC dot crawl from the NES because they apparently thought that was part of the graphics. It looks as if they just hooked up a NES and rented Castlevania from the local Blockbuster so they could pause the game and copy down the graphics.

It's hard to comprehend just what a level of stupidity it takes to do this.

Look at the stippling between the floor bricks and on the window frames. When they did the graphics for the DOS version, they copied the NTSC dot crawl from the NES graphics.

If you look at a clean emulator screenshot of the NES, that stuff isn't there. In fact even Nintendo Power used special in-house NESes with RGB monitors to take crystal-clear screenshot with no dot crawl.

That Amiga port was literally done by an Eastern European dev who probably worked cheap.
