Wow, Persona 1 is cool, will probably rake in all the Persona 5 millenial hipsters. The list is okay, no Spyro, Crash, Chrono Cross or more FF is a shame though! - replace Battle Arena Toshinden with Bloody Roar 1 or 2
- switch Cool Boarders 2 for one of the Tony Hawk games
- as great as Abe's Oddysee was I still think Exoddus was the better game and should have been the Oddworld game chosen
- get rid of Rainbow Six to make room for Tomb Raider 1
- Persona has to go in favor of one of Squaresoft's other RPG like Xenogears or Chrono Cross, perhaps even Vagrant Story
- ditch Rayman for Crash instead
- dump Destruction Derby for CTR
- Intelligent Cube is way too obscure and this list needs Silent Hill
- Mr. Driller also has to go so Medievil can take its place
- Normies never gave a shit for GTA and GTA didn't get massive until GTA3 so its inclusion on this list is insanely stupid. They could have put Gran Turismo or a Wipeout game in its place instead.

No Mega Man X4/Mega Man Legends/or at least Mega Man 8. Granted, X4 did get a major rerelease recently (maybe Legends is going to soon) but 8 was re-released over a year ago.

To be fair, the THPS series is a giant licensing mess - music, in-game advertising and brands, skaters' likenesses and the title itself is a problem with Activision no longer having a contract with Tony Hawk. But it's disappointing anyway, THPS2 would have been great for this.

When/if this thing gets hacked and maybe goes on sale, I'd actually be interested. Hopefully it will have some sort of USB storage solution like the SNES Mini, but then again, I could just replace 3/4 of the shit included and never miss it anyway.

Between the soundtracks, the pro skaters appearances, and all the skateboarding/etc brands featured as the deck art, logos on clothing and as stickers and such around the levels, and so on, the THPS series is a re-licensing nightmare. The list feels so clumsily drawn together. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted a nostalgia box of near-launch titles to commemorative the PSX, or a show piece of the best it had to offer.
They should have focused on this one having no games released later than 1996 e.g. Air Combat, Battle Arena Toshinden, Crash Bandicoot, Destruction Derby, Rapid Reload, International Track & Field, Jumping Flash, Motor Toon Grand Prix 2, Rayman, Resident Evil, Ridge Racer, Street Fighter Alpha, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Suikoden, Tekken, Theme Park, Tomb Raider, Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Wild Arms.
Then they could have brought out a mini PSone with dual analog controllers and a GOAT games list later.

Heard someone talk about how this list was made looking at what is popular right now. Like how they include Persona 1 which hardly anyone really played it but everyone knows Persona 4/5. GTA 1 and 2 were weird things that people shrugged at but today Rockstar is the biggest name in gaming. Same with Rainbow Six which only really became a thing on PS3 at least on console.

This just feels like a strange bag of some people knew what to put on (FF7, RE (I would have picked 2 but RE isn't bad, Mr. Driller, ect.) but the rest just feels like they just look at the top selling game today and looked at what they had that matched it.

So pretty much the Playstation All Stars of the mini console.

Just going by the game list, it sounds like it's targeted largely at late teens and early 20-somethings who weren't really around for the PSX era. Games like Persona, Rainbow Six, and GTA are obviously just there for the sake of franchise branding.

People forget that these mini-consoles exist not for fun nostalgia, but to help grow an strengthen old brands and franchises. The companies put forth the games they want to push:

Besides, unless you have a CRT with component inputs, you are forced to deal with the problem of the majority of LCDs not displaying 240p over component and have to force the output to 480i using GSM, which is not the best solution in the world.

But whatever, each one of these solutions would be FAR better than running the original games over to PS3, not for the less than stellar filtering, controller settings or the occasional bug along with the analogous forced 480i for 240p games which might screw up some odd resolutions, but for the unbearable input lag which you can feel a mile away, no matter what display or cabled controller you use. I believe it's even worse than playing the original consoles with the laggiest signal over the crappiest LCD available.

Since it is aimed at normies, to have only one sport game on it (and not a popular sport at that, even though Cool Boarders 2 was okay), seems so weird. A lot of those games avoided using proper names or brands so there's no legal issues and you'd think the licensing for such games would be next to zero.

I never talked about needing wired controllers you brain defect. They may save about a couple frames but it's nothing deal breaking. I just said the PS1 emulator inside the PS3 is absolute BOLLOCKS, not because the display is resampling the output or the bluetooth interface doesn't have any overhead, but because the delays in processing the inputs are at the complete fault of the fucking software itself. You don't see that shit when playing with a PSP Go or a Vita TV with the third partiest wireless DS3 clone you can find, because it's a better written emulator overall, I would assume. That's why I'm saying it's better to stick to PS1/PS2 if you have any original discs. And wanting top dollar official component cables when you are totally fine with the PS3 emulator and the fact you'd only ever need to buy them from brands who properly shield each connection and have mid to high quality production values so they can afford gold plating only weeds out the real faggot between us.

Turns out I definitely can. Not only that but I tried the first Spyro by buying the PSN release and it's a fucking disgrace on PS3 with constant framerate drops for no apparent reason, while it's A-okay on any other console that supports that EBOOT. Try playing any Wipeout from a PS1 disc on both PS2 and PS3 and tell me how you feel.

Well since you posted it, Wipeout 1 and Wipeout 2097 """Soundtrack""" is like a selection of songs from the game, a different mix of a song from the game (Atom Bomb), and songs not from the game (Daft Punk, Leave Home, Source Direct, Titan, Orbital, Leftfield, etc).
