why can't I switch characters mid-fight? why does it only swap out if a person is dead AND it's the end of a round?

fight's pretty cool tho

Because those are the rules they decided. What's your point? Also Kefka is literally me

FF6 makes a lot of sense if you assume it's the product of a bunch of talented people winging it, and everything in the game is the first thing someone thought of with barely any testing or refinement. So the boss is the first way someone coded it with the tools at hand, and it looked neat enough the first time they tried it, so they left it that way.

Can someone explain me why Kefka is displayed as clown in modern FF when he wasn't in FF6?

How is that not a clown?

He was though. Just look at the concept & official art. He's just a clown within the realm of FF6 fashion - that is to say clothes that are baggy, lots of sashes, and generally ugly fabric patterns.

I guess lack of culture and inbreeding goes hand in hand...

well, that is disappointing then. In game he doesn't look like a clown. I guess square soft watched batman and said we need to copy the joker... glad the game sprite designers were better than the main artist... what a trash bag...

I thought of him more like he got a huge ego and is also kind of a star, like a k-pop idol.

I guess you are right and squares intention was always dumb as fuck. Not suprising. TIme to wipe FF6 from my top games list...

Sounds fun. Never watched it. Too bad I am from germanistan...

No dude, there is a difference between style and dressing up to look like a clown. I assume a clown coooouuuuld look stylish in some few rare cases, but usually that's not the aim of a clown.

A clown does look a distinct way, which kefka doesn't. A clown has clear indicators, especially the way the face is colored. The shape and simplicity of the lines is very important. If the lines are not cheap and simple, it is more style, which a clown doesn't want, because it doesnt carry his intention.

To educate your simple creature a little, think about warpaint. It's to intimidate enemies. Someone wearing warpaint for sure is not trying to be a clown. A simple creature might call him that, but simple creatures are usually wrong.
There are alot of ways to bodypaint and you have to differenciate between intention and execution.
A clown wants to look wacky and not to be misunderstood. If the face paint becomes too detailed and too filigreed it loses its purpose beause it is too complicated and doesnt evoke the on the spot basic simple feelings of humor...

So this is off in so many ways. But that doesn't suprise as many other rpgs have inconsistent stories aswell, like chronotrigger, FF7 and I am pretty sure all the other FFs I didnt play...
