What was your retro GOTY of 2017?
The classic you had the most fun with this year.

I was finally able to play MDK again, got it with the winter sale on GOG.
Man, just the music at the title screen was enough to get me excited.
The game is just as good as I remembered it, the right balance of humor and action.
Simple yet to the point, with a few interesting and cool looking mechanics like the sniper rifle.

Been exploring the genesis more. I usually just play turbografx or snes.

Streets of rage 2 was outstanding.

Ys IV dawn of ys is excellent

Also had fun getting through hydro thunder on n64

For me it was Power Drift which I'd barely even heard of before playing it on the 3D Classics Genesis collection. I'm a pretty big Outrun fan and it gave some similar fun.

I played the first Tex Murphy, Mean Streets, with a notebook to write down addreses and leads and that was fun as hell. One of my best retro experience of the year.
Then I played Martian Memorandum, got to the end, and got stuck in a dead end because I missed one item. One of my worst retro experience of the year.

Shadowrun for the SNES, fantastic game dripping with atmosphere and versatility in how to play the game.

Played through System Shock 1 and it became my new favorite game of all time. Absolute masterpiece. Duke Nukem 3D as well, second favorite FPS after DOOM now.

Make sure you play VR Missions, it's based AF.

Personally I'd say Umihara Kawase. The game is just so fucking fun and I just learned of its existence this year.

I like it on the Saturn. I found it impossible to control on 3ds and the 3d effect doesn't work.

Galaxy Force 2, on the other hand, kills the Saturn version. The 3d looks AMAZING.

Honestly, the VR missions are the best part of the game for me.
