Earthbound is legit bliss.

People like it because it is a good game. :)

I like it because it's comfy and I also like Dragon Quest so I love the gameplay too.

Inventory management is a pain, why are equipped weapons still in the inventory when this didnt happen in mother 1
Other than that is fantastic

>> No.3574742

It's OK. It's a funny jrpg but it sucks as actually having a coherent, good story. It's like an anime that has random episodes, only the last episode wraps everything up in an epic ending.

The story is absolutely amazing
Im sorry to say this but you just didnt get it.
The localization doesnt help though and you must have played (and understood) the first game too

Some of the worse falseflaging I've ever seen, I reccomend using a image you can't immediately get from google to increase validity. Also don't include things like "(:", easy sign of sarcasm.

Anyways thanks for the EB thread. It actually is my favorite game of all time.

So the new way to shit on a game on /vr/ is to compliment it?

This game stinks!

As an RPG it sucks. As a VN (played with emulator fastforward) it's tolerable.

Assuming your not OP then in a way yes. Are you not familar with the term "false flagging".

You just like it because it panders to your Burger nostalgia of Charlie Brown-like character designs and settings based off urban America.

It's pretty good. I like the first game more. With Earthbound, I played it so much as a kid that revisiting it feels kind of like a chore, since I have it pretty much memorized.

And...?
>you like the the game as it reminds you of your childhood
Yeah, it's great.

I got into it due to Keiichi Suzuki and Shigesato Itoi.
I was aware of the series due to Smash Bros., but never really paid attention to it, didn't really even know what was it all about, I thought all of the games in Mother series were japan-only at first. I never saw Earthbound being sold in my country, despite being on latin america (so I got all the USA releases), I think the stores here never got Earthbound, I would remember such a big box.

Around the mid 00s I got into Moonriders and other 80s japanese new wave bands, and Keiichi Suzuki became one of my favorite musicians. Many of his songs had lyrics written by this guy called Shigesato Itoi. One thing led to another and I learned that this Itoi guy wrote and produced the Mother games, and that Suzuki did the music. Needless to say I ought to play these famous Mother games, and I ended up liking them a lot.

Well, that doesn't mean it's good, unless you can prove it's anything more than a shallow Dragon Quest clone, which itself is a poor clone of primitive '80s computer RPG's.

I've always liked this game just because it has a road-trip sort of atmosphere to it. Especially with the international element to said trip.

Some of the dungeons were kind of annoying and it didn't really pick up until I reached Twoson, but I'm very glad to have played it. Perhaps as a coherent story it's not the best in the world, but as "a bunch of stuff that happened" it's very nice, and after all video-games are more about doing a bunch of stuff anyway.

I'm not lying though. One of my favorite songs of all times is composed by Suzuki and lyrics written by Itoi. I had to play the games these 2 guys did, had to. Ended up liking it more than expecing. I wasn even't aware of the hype of the series, other than remembering japanese people getting excited for Mother 1+2 and Mother 3 releases.

Inventory management WAS a fucking pain.

The only way to sort items in any way is to give the item to yourself?! The fuck? And that only puts it at the end of your inventory.

I said it was my favorite game, obviously I like the story dummy.
>>3576473
Yeah but I think it also depends on how you see it. Itoi let things be vague but not enough to not make sense. Really it's just a goofy adventure with a few moments of seriousness thrown in.

I understand the game completely. I just think it's more silly than anything else
