I know that underages think Sonic is a Nintendo franchise since a lot of people played Sonic games on Nintendo in the 2000s, but Sonic is by Sega.

Stahp it. As a nintendo fanboy, I can at least acknowledge that the genesis is a legitimately decent system. I never owned one back in it's prime though. Then again, I didn't get my nintendo till a friend gifted it to me after the 64 came out. I was poor.

I never understood people who like either SMB3 or World, and hate the other.

Both games are pretty great and similar, how can you actually dislike one if you like the other? Weird hyperbolic taste.

I have a hard time deciding which game I like more in terms of level design, I can only come to the conclusion that I prefer World's physics simply because you can throw stuff upwards and in general the controls are tighter and lets you do more crazy stuff (which is why the Mario romhack community centers around SMW).
But being frank now, both games are great, come on.

SMW had less powerups, the main powerup it did get was OP as fuck, there wasn't as much level variety, only the special stages were actually difficult.

Yeah I mean, it's OK to prefer one over the other or whatever, I know already how SMW vs SMB3 threads go... but in the end everyone likes both games, right? I can't imagine a person liking one and despising the other.

I loved that SMB3 gave more variety in powerups but also loved how much more the game feels fleshed out in World with secret exits and stuff.

It's almost impossible to hate one but like the other because they compliment each other well. SMB3 has shorter levels and more power-ups, so it feels different and fresh when you reach diffferent worlds, but World is well made: exploring each level feels great and it feels much more like a story than 3 does. They're both great games.
