i mean, the cdrom consoles, ps1 especially i believe, had an issue with the reading lens/laser needing replacement during the console life

could it just be that at ps1 era being my adolescence, the owners i new were careless with their possessions and kids today still manage to ruin their playstations and xboxes laser apparatus ?
