You will never drive out of the map in Motocross Madness for the first time again.

Makes me wish I still had one of these, but I'm pretty sure it was terrible.

I still have it; it was.

The motion sensing was really cool, especially for the time, but holy living fuck it had the worst d-pad I'd ever used in my life.

Those Sidewinder controllers were super comfy to hold, I remember them being the closest feeling thing to the original PS controller . They were great for playing emulators with but as stated above the dpad was very stiff and were not good for the PC games at the time. I think I got my first sidewinder controller with the first Quake.

Dat cannon sound. I would loose my shit every time that happened. It was just hilarious seeing a ragdoll shoot across the map

I played the shit out of the sequel. Too bad it doesn't run well on modern machines.
MM2 is by far the best game when it comes messing around with physics/bugs/glitches/weird shit.
- The border cannons need no explanation.
- Alt+Tabbing replaces the terrain textures with driver's costume texture.
- You can make a ridiculous looking nose drift.
- You can grind on all sorts of things (power lines, bridge rails etc).
- You can make a 360 by leaning forwards and turning left; not sure if intentional or not because it looks so stupid.
- You can jump on the trains and ride them, but they behave like solid terrain so you fall off unless you keep accelerating.
- When you fall down in first person view, the driver sticks to the bike by a short invisible link.
- Replays can be broken because the falling driver isn't recorded properly.
- When you fall down from great heights and use the "eject" right before you hit the ground, the driver is attached for a few seconds on the bike and if the collision makes the bike spin, the driver might get thrown ridiculously far away (possibly high in the air for hilariousity) because of the centrifugal force.
- If you respawn inside a tree after falling, you might be able to drive it up (kind of like a twisted Elasto Mania maneuver) and launch in the air.
- If you fall in a specific way near a corner, you might get blasted to another cannon zone, then get blasted outside the cannon zone of another border and finally drive over the edge.

Yes.

Also, Midtown Madness.

Yeah... I remember the tilt/motion controls were waay too much of a novelty to be useful, and then toggling the motion off meant using that terrible D-pad. The terrible D-pad that made me opt to just use a keyboard for my emulators.

MM's poorer cousin. Loved the massive outside areas you could roam about. Also notable for insta-rag-doll key!

I still have mine, fully boxed and intact. Yes, the motion controls have always sucked, but the d-pad was even worse.

Not identical. The 360's d-pad is lightyears ahead in terms of usability.
Source: I own both.

Oh yeah, played through that one a lot. There was some trick system there too, and the areas seemed huge at the time. I think I spent more time outside the track than riding on it
