1651856 No.1651856 [Reply] [Original]

This has to be the most brutally unfair game I've ever played.

-enemies constantly wander off screen so you can't see them but they can still hit you from there

-it's nearly impossible to not get surrounded by guys since someone's always flipping or steamrolling into the fray, which means...

-...once they land one punch on you you're basically finished, since they combo it into 3-4 more hits which take off half a life bar instantly

-you can do your special move sure, but you're losing health that way too

-Andores can kill you in 2 attacks, not to mention jumping on you repeatedly when you are on the ground and can't defend yourself

I mean I try to give a game a chance, but this shit is impossible. It wouldn't even be so bad if it didn't feel so stiff either. You try to punch and you're frozen in place, so if you start punching and are not perfectly lind up with a guy, you're good as dead. You think you can hit him and start punching, but you're still 2 pixels off, he just breaks through and drains half your life. Or you do land a hit but his breaks through yours anyway for some reason so you take damage regardless.

>-enemies constantly wander off screen so you can't see them but they can still hit you from there
Don't stand near the edges of the screen, and be ready to react ti El Gado's antics.

Use your special the second you get hit. You will lose less health in the long run.

>-Andores can kill you in 2 attacks, not to mention jumping on you repeatedly when you are on the ground and can't defend yourself

Be careful around them, use weapons, etc.

And your main method of attack, if you can manage it, should be grabs followed by knees. It does more damage than anything. Also, if you have the breathing room, you can infinite all of the enemies by turning around after the second punch, then turning around to resume punching.

Also, practice crowd control. Grabbing an enemy is good for damage but also because you can send him flying into a group of his buddies to give you some breathing room.

Final Fight is a motherfucker of a game.

1) Stick to Cody, at least for now. The main advantage he has over the rest is the fact that once he picks up a knife, the attack comes out almost instantly. So if you're getting bumrushed by a horde of El Gados, make your way to a knife, get your back to the wall and start stabbing like a maniac. You just might come out of it without a scratch.

2) This is not an issue if you're playing the SNES version, but it's essential that you figure out a way to move between the flames in the Industrial Area unscathed. Find a horizontal plane that allows you to safely walk between the fires and forget about moving vertically until you get through.

3) Memorize all of the instances when the barrels start rolling towards you. Git gud enough to break all three of them every time.

5) There's a shitton of secret item pickups hidden in the last level, including a couple of 1-ups. Check behind every column, you'll need every single one.

Good luck, /vr/o.

>> No.1652054

If you're playing alone, the best character by far is Haggar. He's the most manageable, anyway. However, it becomes a very boring piledriverfest.

If you're playing with Cody/Guy, do part of your combo, grab the enemy, knee, knee, throw them.

>> No.1652106

>>1651856
Watch the Kacho play. Then, do the opposite.
His overuse of specials leads to his premature demise constantly. Use them only when absolutely necessary. Breaking your own punch combo with Cody by punching in the opposite direction will allow you to pummel an enemy to death without knocking him down or off screen and leave you vulnerable. Its also a good practice for when you may be surrounded and shouldn't be special spamming.

Final Fight 3 has more attacks. Still one attack button though. Don't need any more than that.

And it has a backstep that allows you to dodge.

Although it ends up being really easy because of all that. Enemies pretty much can't touch you. On top of that, the game throws lives at you like crazy. And you have super moves that do a ton of damage.

It's fun, but it's way too easy.

>> No.1654126

The thing about beat em ups is you are never supposed to get hit. Like NEVER

you are supposed to do your suicide attack BEFORE you lose control over the fight.

If you get hit 2 things happen.
1) you lose health, way more than you would have lost if you did a suicide attack
2) all the enemies will move into unmangable positions.

The suicide attacks removes a very, very low amount of your health. You can do about 15 of them before you are dead. If you play correctly the healing in the levels is more than enough to cover it.

Final fight (and all 2d beat em ups) are games about positioning and crowd control. You want to position yourself and enemies (remember you can change where enemies are by using throws) so that you are never flanked. Change your position on the Y axis often to confuse enemeis. If you are facing enemies on multiple sides of the screen stay mobile and abuse the invunability frame on throws.

Throws in final fight are escpially good because the invunability time is so long and the tossed enemies travel very far compared to other beat em ups.

One of the most importaint techniques to learn is to jump towards enemies, using the down+attack command to stun them than immediently throw them when you land. Its nearly impossible for enemies to counter this combo because you are in the air or invunerable the entire duration.

When you grab an enemy don't throw him immdiently. Wait until several enemies have lined up in front of your first to hit them all with it.

To counter enemies gap closer (big bull head butt, andre jump, holleywood's dive attack) never stand on the same Y axis as them fro too long. Holleywood and poisen love to jump at you. Abuse their ai by baiting them into a jump than dodging them and countering with a grab.

It should also be noted that final fight is a difficult game even by standards of other beat em ups.

I can get to the 5th level on 1 credit in violent storm and metamorphic force but only the 3rd level in final fight.
