In '97 I got my very own p90 windows 95 Gateway computer in my room, with quake and encarta 95. Probably the best Christmas, helped me become a software developer.

da gf got me one of those white 8bitdo M30s like the old JP saturn controllers. They look white on the box but the actual pad is sort of an off-white. Kind of an odd choice but I still think it looks cool. Have seen others online with blindingly white pads and then some that look like mine, weird.

I bought an Ibanez s670qm for myself in November and told myself that was my gift to myself, but I also bought a new desk chair a week or two ago.

On the actual retro game front and relevant to this board, I gave my niece a galaxy tablet two years ago when she was 3 for the kids games on there. She is 5 and in school now, not sure if she can read yet, but when she can read, I'm gonna set up a Gameboy emulator for her and get her on the Pokémon. Is giving a child a tablet for emulation cringe? I feel like it is, but as a pirate I don't think I can give her a switch, considering how jew Nintendo is.

The smiles and thankfulness of my twin tween cousins upon receiving my gift. They truly were happy with the Modified Wii, and the 200+ games and 300+ movies, series and anime in its portable HDD.

I also spent the best time possible with my tween twin cousins and my nephew and niece, all barely teens and pre-teens, playing Wii's Smash Bros and other Party Games. Later we went to the park to touch grass, and play pirates and sharks running around the field...

I had the best gift, that of sincere children's love, and friendship.

My mother... you know... she hurt me too much as a teen and I left home pretty early, so it is no surprise, and I honestly can live with it (it will never stop hurting)...

The cool part were my cousins who choose to spend some time with me before the proverbial christmas party which I did not attend, thank God.

I am really proud of them, they are good kids.
And their parents are Museum Curators, so their own house if a small museum and library, they understand the meaning of "Classics" and are surrounded by "old" devices and media.

Funny thing: their dad is NOT a gamer, so this will be their first console. So when we played some games this weekend, they were blown away by the games... but also by the Cartoons, Anime, and TV shows I collected and re-encoded for them.

Not gonna lie, I am pretty proud and satisfied by the results, I spent 6 months gathering components, hacking, fine tuning, curating games; and collecting and re-encoding media for them.

I knew it was going to be a neat gift last summer when I showed them my Modded Wii Project and they were honestly blown away by all it could do, and openly praised the two games we played back then.

I even made Tutorial Videos for them in an USB and uploaded them to a channel exclusively for this project, lol

Only retro think was that my sister got me a PS2 controller since mine doesn't work properly anymore (vibration's fucked up and whenever it rumbles it thinks some buttons are being pressed). Got a seasonal job that pays at the highest rate I've ever had at $15/hr and did a lot of Doordash to try to get the RetroTINK4k, so I've not been posting much. Unfortunately, the website kept hanging right after adding it to the cart, so I had to give up on it. I know we should be boycotting cheap Chinese products due to their geopolitical issues, but no one else supports JP21 and it is what I had to pivot to when I couldn't get the scaler. Also decided to try out the Duo with the remainder. My feet and back hurt so much, but I think I salvaged this Christmas. I hope yours was as joyful too.

Felt like a king, keeping it retro I remember getting a gamecube in 2005 and my brother immediately buying Resident Evil 4 and stealing my console to play it.
I enjoyed watching him play it though since I was to scared to.
