Linear interpolation looks like wank. With your phone you have the luxury of a significantly larger resolution than a 3DS: you can do an (at least) 3x integer scale and finally do linear interpolation to fill the screen. Filling the screen isn't even an issue on OLED's since the blacks look like part of the bezel, so you could skip the final linear interpolation step if you wanted. Alternatively, your phone's screen also has enough pixel real estate for a convincing DS LCD shader.
I'm guessing you mention the Galaxy Note because it comes with a stylus, but you can get generic styli for any Android device for cheap.

I had an issue where one of my chinkhelds was showing a fucked up screen, mostly wrong colors and black lines. Turns out one of the chinks assembling it got his fingerprint sweat on the connector for the screen's ribbon cable while assembling it. A Youtube tutorial video let me figure out the problem, dis-assemble my handheld, properly clean off the screen's ribbon cable port, and the screen was crystal clear as intended afterwards.
Most of the problems I have encountered, and with that I mean all of them outside of ill-properly packaged mail so the box/handheld gets damaged during shipping, comes from the assembling process of the device with them either getting finger prints/hair on shit they're not supposed to, or not using enough adhesive for the screen cover/screen itself so it pops out of the device with basic use.

It's alright, I've put an obscene amount of hours into the N64 app. Quality is good to great but they seem to be taking feedback given they fixed up OoT's graphical issues. Much better than Wii U though, that outright had noticeable input lag and PAL regions were cucked because Nintendo would only sell them the PAL ROMs. Now EU ROMs are an option but the default is USA.

Dunno if I'd say the overall package is worth the cash. It would in the settings ironically but even after button mapping and setting up a controller profile for the gamesir; it just wouls not register in gameplay.... siiiigh. It sucks because I came to LOVE the gamesir bluetooth version. Another issue is that when I plug in my phone. The left side can't help but bulge out a little so I ens up looking at a slanted screen. I can fix this by positioning the right side up in the grips slightly but it's a pain to be sure. I'm sorry gamesir X2 usb-c; you failed me and you're getting retured.

Taking chance number two soon as I ordered a gen two Backbone USB-C. It's always had mad reviews so we'll see here in a couple of days if it lives up to my standards.

I wouldn't even be here trying tis if the razer kishi V1 had not just suddenly stopped working on my phone. (I still have those controls; they seem to work on newer phones; but after researching that it was a very common issue and razer has stopped updates for the product; I decided to never buy another razer product for as long as I live. I LOVED that controller and felt betrayed)

If the backbone fails me; I'm returning it and just sticking to bluetooth controllers going forward until legitimate advancements are made.

Honestly that "we can afford it" attitude was probably a huge reason for Vita's demise. The margins on Vita units themselves were probably extremely slim to negative in the beginning and it made Sony unable to answer Nintendo adequately when they implemented their huge 3DS price cut. They also tried to price gauge the customer with proprietary memory cards, not including them with the console but requiring them for saving game data. OG Vita actually had plenty of free space on its internal storage storage for game saves, they just didn't make it available to the user to make them buy a memory card. They later reversed that decision with the Slim model, which actually has the exact same amount of flash memory built in hardware-wise, but they made 1GB of it available to the user this time. PS Vita really should have been the Slim model since the beginning.

vita is just a bevy of baffling design decisions resulting from kneejerk anti-piracy since the PSP was fucking insanely popular among pirates and was notoriously piss-easy to crack, to the point that loads of software developers complained the PSP wasn't profitable (mega man's demise was probably hastened along by maverick hunter X and powered up selling very poorly on PSP, with the DS only getting ZX) even though the machine itself sold gangbusters

Really happy with my Steam Deck purchase.
GC and PS2 are surprisingly good at 2x and I have no desire to play anything more demanding.

Not every game has the same aspect ratio and black bars are an inevitable reality no matter what aspect ratio screen you have, get over it.

You're on /vr/ and PC games from before 2006 were almost always meant to be displayed in 4:3.

Because it means that the display could be smaller and the device could be smaller and lighter because of it. Which is very important for handhelds, I agree that it doesn't matter as much for things like monitors or TVs.

But Steam Deck's retarded aspect ratio makes them inevitable much more often than they need to be. 3D PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2 and Gamecube games will actually fill out the whole display on something like Retroid Pocket 3+ if widescreen hacks are enabled. 2D systems meant to be displayed on a 4:3 CRT (even though the internal resolution was often different) are much better played on something like RG35XX. On Steam Deck you're gonna get black bars both in 2D and 3D games regardless of the settings you use. I just don't like paying more and getting a worse experience, that's all.
