Wario was cool as fuck in the 90s when he hit mainstream success. Way cheekier than goody two shoes Mario, and in a way, Nintendo's answer to Sonic which honestly, worked. I know a couple people who never had a Nintendo console who still thought Wario was cool, because everybody had a fucking GameBoy and his games were good and adventurous.

I love his nemesis is a hot babe, very fitting for someone so gruff, macho and ugly. Really liked they brought her back in Shake It and have her trick him in the end, shame he'll never get to settle their long-standing score.

I actually think the only kind moment Wario ever gets is when he shares a laugh wth Shokora at the end of 4. To this day, that is the only time Wario has ever cared about anything that wasn't money or treasure, and I think that gives it even more weight, it's a wonderful little moment to crown that game.

Or am I misremembering something from 2? Other than the fact he tends to his pet hen I can't think of anything, he's a fucking unstoppable revenge machine in that game lmao
